Hong Kong Disneyland is situated on Lantau Island where it was built on reclaimed land. It was opened in 2005 and covers approximately 100 acres though expansion plans are in the pipeline this is the smallest of the Disneyland resorts. It is very easy to get to from Hong Kong as the MTR runs there with the last leg of the journey from Sunny Bay station being on a Disney themed train with Mickey windows and hand pull also in the shape of Mickeys head which the children loved. It is laid out like most Disney parks you enter and arrived first at the
Main Street USA Attractions here are the Hong Kong Disneyland railroad which can take you a tour round the park with one stop in Fantasyland. Main Street vehicles that tour up and down Main St The Disney Story this tells you all about disney and the creation of the park. Animation Academy where you can learn to draw your favourite characters from Disney City Hall where guest relations are located as well as park information and toilets There are also a few cafes , restaurants and shops in this area.
Adventureland Attractions available here are the Jungle River Cruise which is a feature in most disney parks and very enjoyable they have two queues one English speaking and the other Chinese so we had no queue which was great. Rafts to Tarzans Treehouse then Tarzans treehouse itself which is an interactive playhouse. Festival of the Lion King was on in the theatre of the Wild and was a very good show. There is also a Restaurant ,Café and shop in this area.
Fantasyland Sleeping Beauty's Castle which is the highlight for many children and adults alike so have your camera ready. This area has lots of rides for young children including the Carousel of horses, Dumbo the flying elephant and the mad hatters tea cups. It also has two great shows the Golden Mickeys and the Mickeys Philharmagic show which is 3D and both where fantastic. Fantasy Gardens is where you can meet the Disney characters and get pictures and cuddles from them and again amazing there were no queues. There are also a selection of restaurants and shops in this area.
Tomorrowland Home to Space Mountain a high speed roller coaster can not comment as a passed on this one. Other attractions include Stitch encounter which claims to never have the same show twice. Orbitron where you can pilot your own flying saucer UFO zone an interactive play area. Autopia drive electric cars into the future or help Buzz Lightyear save the planet in Astro Blasters. This was not my favourite area of the park I am too big a woose, but it had the best food after a choice of noodles and wok dishes it was lovely to get a really healthy salad with of course burger or fried chicken!! There are also shops in this area too.
Too sum up I found the park quiet and very easy to navigate as it seemed so small compared to Florida but the no queues was a big plus. There were plenty toilet facilities and wheelchairs or pushchairs could be hired. Smoking was only allowed in designated areas which was great. It was if I remember right about £30 which again was cheaper but then again there was no Frontierland. I really enjoyed my visit and would recommend it to anyone staying in Hong Kong for more than a couple of nights.
