Tips and Ideas for a great Hong Kong stay
Review of Hong Kong by reddiguy

Advantages: Exciting, vibrant, loads to do, islands to visit, tons of shopping
Disadvantages: Often smoggy, baking hot and lots of rain in the summer!

...stay in the wonderfully exciting Hong Kong, which took a year to research and plan, I'd like to share some tips and ideas with others who are thinking about a visit to this vibrant place. - Langham Place Hotel. If you're looking for a top-quality hotel that won't break the bank then do consider staying at this stunning hotel. We loved the exciting, vibrant Mong Kok location. It's cheaper than other 5 star properties simply because it's away from ...
...great time to go to Hong Kong. We had 11 days and not a drop of rain! It was t-shirt and shorts each day, although we tended to change into long sleeved shirt/top and long trousers in the evening. - If you're thinking of visiting any of the outlying islands (we visited Lantau, Lamma, Cheung Chau and Ma Wan) ask at the Tourist Board Office at the Star Ferry (TST side) for a book called 'Discover Hong Kong Nature'. It's a lovely A5 sized book, with ... Read review

A Truly Life Changing Experience
Review of General: Hong Kong by cammymcd123

Advantages: Everything transport food shopping sight seeing....
Disadvantages: Disneyland Hong Kong please avoid

I have had the opportunity of visiting Hong Kong twice in my relatively short lifetime. I first visited when I was around nine years of age and the experience seemed to pass me by extremely quickly. However my second visit to Hong Kong at the age of fifteen was a genuine life changing experience, realising the destination where I desired to live and work. My mother and her family are Chinese and returning to their Homeland was an emotional experience. ...
...Earth has affected me more than my visit in the summer of 2007. The city of Hong Kong is one of vibrancy and beauty. It is strange describing a hustle and bustling city as one of Beauty however Hong Kong is not like any other city. Hong Kong is a city of diversity and variety. One can expect the usual towering skyscrapers of large cities of the world however Hong Kong differs vastly as the city has areas of pure tranquillity and peace such as Lantau ... Read review

From an ex-tour guide on Hong Kong Island
Review of Hong Kong Island by JacquieMinerva

Advantages: Food and Shopping paradise
Disadvantages: Pollution is quite bad

...should have a say on Hong Kong Island, considering the fact that I've lived there for more than 18 years. For a view of how Hong Kong has emerged as a truly international city, do go have a look. First I'll have to start off where you leave the Hong Kong International Airport. Take the Airport Express to Hong Kong Station, the first thing for a shop-aholic to do is to explore Central. Right where you come out of the station is the International ...
...Places to eat: famous Hong Kong dishes include dimsum, fishball and wonton noodles and seafood, but international dishes are also very authentic. Dimsum in JADE restaurant, Exchange Square 2, Central, and Zen in Pacific Place, Admiralty, are my personal favourites, but the Chinese restaurants in hotels also have really exquisite dimsum. The word dimsum means to touch the heart in Cantonese, and I do hope these meticulously prepared savouries can ... Read review

Cheung Chau Island
Review of Outlying Islands (Hong Kong) by manxfelipe

Advantages: A great escape from the city & no cars
Disadvantages: Ferrell dogs

...most densely populated of the outlying islands, however this shouldn't put off people who are looking for peaceful walks away from the hustle bustle of Hong Kong Island. Cheung Chau is a 40 minute (fast ferry) or 55 minute (ordinary ferry) boat ride away from Hong Kong Island. The boat arrives at the ferry pier in Cheung Chau village, which is where the majority of the population of the island lives. The village has a number of seafood restaurants ...
...over one of the other outlying islands. There is a promenade that links Sai Wan and Cheung Chau village, however for the novelty value of it we chose to get a ride on a junk boat (kaido) back to the village. This took about 5 minutes across the harbour and costs about HK$3. All in all Cheung Chau is well worth a visit for a few hours if you fancy an escape from the mayhem of Hong Kong Island to see a more traditional area of the region. ... Read review
