Aloha! This was a fantastic holiday as soon as we stepped off the plane! We took 3 planes one from Leeds Bradford to London Heathrow, London Heathrow to San Francisco then from San Francisco to Honolulu probably a bad thing if you don't like flying but well worth it once your there.

I went in April 2003 for my sisters wedding she got married in Olomana Gardens this isn't available for people who want to get married there anymore I think they've turned it into a farm but it was beautiful never the less.

The holiday cost around £1000 each for 3weeks self catering but it was worth every penny, it's the best holiday I have had so far!

We stayed at Ohana Waikiki Village which is being refurbished but it was gorgeous back in 2003 so I bet it will be even better once it's finished. The pool was gorgeous as when you dived in and went underwater there was a little window where people in the pub next door could look at. The staff was so friendly, Charlie's Bar was amazing and it's a really good family night. I was only 16 at the time when I went so we couldn't go to any pubs but the karaoke goes on well into the early mornings. You have to be 21 to go into any pub over there even if you're drinking pop which is probably the only bad thing about it. The funny thing about it was that my sister was 28 at the time when she was getting married and when we went to the Chinese which is just next door to our hotel they asked her for I.D. for a cocktail so I would recommend that everybody going takes I.D. when they go out, even if its just your passport or driving licence.

Three things I would extremely recommend to do whilst there:

I would highly recommend 110% to go and swim with the dolphins. It costs about $50 and $25 for the photo's but it's a once in a lifetime opportunity and is absolutely breathtaking! The whole experience lasts around 1 and 1/2 hours and in that time you get to feed the dolphins, swim with them by holding onto there fins and get to watch them swim underwater whilst in the same pool and get them to do there tricks for you like hula dance which is also pretty good. The place where you get to do this is on the ship and same Sea Water Park where they filmed 50 first dates. Out of 10 it would definitely get 11.

Pearl harbour is also a brilliant day out, very sad but it's so peaceful it's just amazing, we went on a coach as we were staying in Oahu, I would defiantly go to see it. Also whilst your there id go to see the Missouri battleship too, that's fun for all the family!!

Ala Moana Shopping Centre ~ this is a really big shopping centre so if you're someone after my own heart and love shopping you can get lots of gorgeous clothes for next to nothing! Plus there's little areas all over which is suitable for children like arcades or crèches….also a good day out there's food outlets and bars there too.

The plus side for all the Elvis fans out there we were about 100 yards from the hugely famous Waikiki beach which is brilliant in its self! Plus there's surfing lessons and belly boarding lessons even if you're a bit scared of the deep dark sea like I was, there's a shallow pool that goes up to your neck if your about 5"6 which is free of little fish and things!

I loved it and would defiantly go again, if anyone is going and does read this if you meet two very friendly people called Manui or Kimo then make sure to tell them Zara says hello. They are so friendly, you couldn't wish for anymore! Before we came home they gave everyone in our party a little gift to remember them by, (bearing in mind there were 15 people in our party) they gave me a pearl necklace which I've still got today and is beautiful.

I do have to admit it is the best holiday I have been on the pool and beach is amazing too!!!! There is only 1 word I can use to describe it all and that is BRILLIANT!

Until we meet again or as they say in Hawaii Ahui Hou!

P.S Ohana means family :-)
