I came across this hotel while searching for somewhere to stay for my trip to Paris in November. As it was mainly a sightseeing/shopping trip, I wanted somewhere central, cheap and clean. As most of the cheaper end hotels in Paris are stuck on top of the Montmatre hill, this central hotel appeared to be quite a find!

I made enquiries through their website (http://www.hotel-hospitel.com/ang/accueil.htm) and got a helpful reply stating that they had a room for 110 Euros per night, and all I had to was give my credit card details to secure the room.

On arrival at Charles De Gaulle we headed for the RER line B and caught the train to St Michel Notre Dame (cost around 7-8 euros). We arrived and to our surprise the hospital which contains the hotel was literally yards from Notre Dame. We knew it would be close, but not that close! The building was beautiful and clearly has an amazing history. We headed upstairs and found the hotel and were directed to a clean, simple room containing a television and a bathroom with bath/shower. The reception staff were really helpful, lending me a hairdryer on one occasion and they have a range of snacks and drinks available too.

We used the hospital cafe down on the ground floor a couple of mornings, we took advantage of an offer and had lovely strong espressos and a pain au chocolat for something ridiculously cheap like 3 Euros! Breakfast is also available at the hotel for 8 Euros.

We found the location brilliant for sightseeing and shopping. You are just a short walk away from Le Marais which has lots of funky shops and restaurants and a ten minute walk along the Seine will bring to you to Louvre. You are obviously incredibly close to Notre Dame too and all of the touristy shops and restaurants are literally yards away.

The only downsides I guess are the fact that you can hear ambulance sirens almost all of the time, but you are in the centre of a city, so you hear them all the time anyway! We did joke that if we were particularly exhausted after a hard day's shopping, all we would have to do is injure ourselves to get a lift back in an ambulance! You also see some interesting sights as A&E is to the left of the entrance (we saw a naked man being bundled into a police van - not what you expect at 9am on a tuesday morning!).

All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a cheaper option in central Paris, I will certainly be going back!
