Cuenca, Ecuador

Advantages: Probably the most pleasant city in South America ?
Disadvantages: Road from north is very poor

Cuenca is Ecuador’s most attractive city and easily the most enjoyable place in which to wander as a tourist. The city is packed full of churches, museums, convents, open squares, colonial buildings and colourful markets. It is divided by the very scenic Tomebamba River and offers a more peaceful and relaxed atmosphere than either Quito or Guayaquil. The city has plenty of moderately sized attractions that can be strung together to make your visit as busy or relaxed as you wish. The streets of the old colonial centre of Cuenca are paved with rectangular cobblestones and the main streets are the Calle Gran Colombia and Calle Mariscal Sucre. This area contains the main city square of Plaza Abdon Calderon which is dominated by the enormous Catedral de la Immaculada (or New Cathedral). This cathedral was started in 1885 and was ...

Hostal Lami???? Where Is That

Advantages: Decent Cheap accomidation, Rooms are good enough for what we need, Nice View From The Window, Cheap
Disadvantages: No Taxi Drivers have any idea where it actually is, The description of The rooms when we booked.

As I'm sure some of you will be aware, I was in Barcelona for a long weekend to celebrate my 21st birthday, well one of the most important things, after booking your flights is finding a place to stay. And as one of the guys we were going with is at Uni, we needed to find something reasonable but cheap for the 4 nights we would be staying there. Well that's where the Hostal Lami comes in. Not exactly a Hostel more of a cheap hotel a bit like our Travel Lodge. Booking & Pricing *************** Obviously when we decided to go to Barcelona a couple of months ago we needed a decent place to stay so by chance having bought the flights through Opodo.co.uk there was a small advert for a hotel at just €38. That works out at roughly £25 a night, which when you consider hotels right in the centre were about €138 a night that ...

El Corte Ingles Store Restaurant, Malaga

Advantages: Very convenient when shopping
Disadvantages: Not exactly a scenic location but that is not why its there.

I ate lunch here with my wife and two friends in October 07 We were there because we were shopping at El Corte Ingles, which beyond doubt is the superior supermarket chain in Spain. The service was quick, the waiter was attentive and the food was as good and comprehensive as the menu suggested. The menu itself consisted of typical Spanish fare, tenera (Calf) beef, various cuts of pork,a wide selection of fish, soups and salads, nothing that I remember in great detail, but what I do remember was the overall high quality of the food that was served up to me and my companions. Do you ever get that feeling when the food arrives at the table and your mind says either "wow, I think I'm really going to enjoy this," or "Oh no, I wish I'd chosen to eat someowhere else." Well they had the wow factor but not over the top. I recall my bass ...
