Remember the Alamo?
Your not kidding, I couldn?t forget it. I walked past it at the same time every morning and night for a week - and a couple of times more for good measure.
Not that I should, or want, to paint SanAntonio in a bad picture - far from it, its my favourite North American city. Its just a week is perhaps a little too long off season. I will explain.
We decided to take our trip to the States (a week in SanAntonio for sightseeing and then a few days in Florida to top up the tan) for the first week in November. Advantages: Produces some great races. Disadvantages: Have been some deaths in the past.
The total population of the country of SanMarino is only about 25,000, so why does it get a Grand Prix? Well, it can only be because of Ferrari and the obsession that their fans have with F1 racing, that gets Italy two races every year.
Imola is of course not in SanMarino, as the whole country is only 24 square miles they would probably have difficulty even finding space for a race track in the mountainous countryside.
Imola is about 50 miles from SanMarino in Italy, about 20 miles from Bologna. The circuit has existed for about 50 years and has a number of names in it’s history and is now known as “Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari”. The SanMarino Grand Prix has been held here for about 20 years, and the circuit has also been used for the Italian Grand Prix.
The circuit is notoriously hard on brakes ...
