...There are two main museums in Florence that are worth visiting. In my last trip to Florence, I've chosen the Accademia. The reason behind this decision is because of the Statue of David by Michelangelo. The gallery is perhaps best-known for Michelangelo's David, removed after four centuries from Piazza Signoria, now exhibited in a specially constructed hall. Personally, I have come across many replicas of the statue, from places as far as Gold Coast Australia. The place is not huge, may only take up to 1 1/2 to finish looking at all the exhibition, but you will find many works by the famous Michelangelo. Some examples are his "Slave" series and his sculpture of San Matteo. Also featured in the gallery is an impressive collection of religious paintings from the 13th to 16th century....

Advantages: clean, comfortable, good value, well located hotel Disadvantages: breakfast could be improved, no bath in some if not all rooms
...We recently stayed at the athenaeum during our visit to Florence in March 2007.
having booked a flight and hotel deal through expedia for £140pp for 2 nights, we were surprised at the bargain price for a 4 star rated hotel. on expedia.co.uk, it says that the hotel is well located, within walking distance of all the major attractions of florence.
On first entering the hotel, the first thing you notice is the lovely sheek modern interior, then you're greeted by the very friendly staff. First impressions were good. They were knowledgable about the local attractions and also well equipped with information about location transport links
The room we were given was a standard double, although the bed provided was a combination of 2 singles put together, the combined size was equivalent to a uk "king size" so not too many complaints...

Advantages: Clean, comfy, good breakfast Disadvantages: May not be worth paying full price for
...I went to Italy to visit my boyfriend, who is on exchange there for a while. On our way to Siena (where we spent most of our time) we decided to spend a night in Florence to see some of the sights. We didn't really put all that much thought into accommodation, we just needed somewhere to stay for a night, and we ended up at the Hotel Alamanni.
OVERVIEW:
The Hotel Alamanni is a three-star hotel located very near to Florence's main train station and about a 15 minute walk from the major tourist attractions. The hotel has 17 guest rooms and 2 suites. There are no business or sporting facilities, but breakfast is provided in the lounge area.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located on the Via Alamanni, a road that runs along the side of the main train station- Santa Maria Novella. The road itself is easy enough to find, but...
