A hotel with a split personality

Advantages: good location, good transport connections.
Disadvantages: irish "pub" restuarant, a bit noisey

. Dining -------- This is where The Phoenix gets a split personality. You enter the dining room from the lobby, the large oak door has a gaelic shield with "The Dubliner" the Irish Pub. Now imagine walking out of your chinzy hotel into an Irish Pub for your meal. The Bar was packed, it seemed that Washington's young and trendy like this format. We waited to be seated in the bar, and were about to turn tail and find something a little more refined when. "Hello Sir, how are we today" Gulp. The restaurant was busy as well, large groups had pulled tables together and we were offered a table for two in a corner. Being British and not wanting to upset our friendly host, we asked if he had a table in a quieter area, he suggested that we might want to go outside, they have a slightly raised area on the sidewalk, and although there was the usual ...

No point in Splitting hairs, its a great album!

Advantages: A lot of good tracks with different moods
Disadvantages: A few tracks where the vocals aren't quite clear enough

was pretty AND talented, a rather awesome package in just 1 person. If you didn't like redheads there was Emma Anderson - she of the dark haired persuasion, also singing & playing guitar and owning a pair of legs that go right up to her neck as well writing some of the songs into the bargain. And if you don't like girls there was always the rather gothic Phil King on bass or the sadly now deceased Chris Acland providing rather awesome drums that melded together the very different sound palette that was Lush. So the band had something for everyone, be you boy, girl or small fluffy creature from Alpha Centuri (I think Miki had them covered). Split was their 2nd album release arriving in June of 1994, all songs were either written by Miki or Emma apart from Starlust which was a joint effort. So whats on Split then? 01 - Light From ...

Review of Split - Lush

Would the President stay here?

Advantages: central location, jacuzzi baths, helpful staff
Disadvantages: not consistent in its standards

At the end of a week long boating holiday in cramped conditions, we treated ourselves to a night of comfort in a four star hotel in Split. We wanted somewhere comfortable and central, so after studying the web, we selected the Hotel President. Location We chose the hotel mainly because of its location, as we were only there for a short time and we wanted to be able to get around quickly on foot. The Hotel President is a 5 minute walk from the old town and Diocletian's Palace. The hotel folder in the room says it is 5 minutes walk to the business area and 10 minutes walk to the railway, bus station and harbour. I think these are slight underestimates based on our walk around town, especially as it is quite busy down by the harbour (and we were just at the beginning of the season). It's not the nicest area to walk through ...
