I stayed in a twin room at this hotel in March 2005. Each room in the hotel is named after an opera and there is a photograph of the opera being performed in each room which I think is a nice touch.
The room was quite small but had everything we needed including a safe to keep our valubles in, a television (with some sky channels and BBC News 24) and a well-stocked, reasonably priced minibar. We had a lovely view of Berlin out of the window which was particulary nice at night when all the lights were on.
The bed was probably the most comfortable I have ever slept on. I can not even begin to describe how lovely it was! The en-suite bathroom was really stunning. It had a deep bath and a wonderfully powerful shower and it was beautifully decorated. It was cleaned daily by hotel staff and it really was a pleasure to use. The towels provided were lovely and soft too.
As a food lover I was a little disappointed by the breakfast provided by the hotel but it was perfectly adequate and good value for money. There was a choice of boiled eggs, bread rolls, cold meats and cream cheese with tea, coffee or juice to drink. I was also disappointed by the fact that there is no restaurant or bar within the hotel but as it is a short wallk from the city centre it wasn't really a problem as there are a great many places to eat and drink within easy walking distance and theres a subway just next door if you get an attack of the munchies at night!
I can not comment on how family friendly the place is as I went away with a friend but I did not see any facilities for children whilst I was there.
Overall I would definately recommend this hotel. It is in a great location and the rooms were absolutely lovely. It is great value for money.
Hotel Agon Opera was re-opened in October 2003 following extensive restorations and renovation work. The hotel stands out not only because of it\\\'s extraordinary comfort and perfect service, but also because its central location right on the Kurfurstendamm serves as the ideal starting point for your personal Berlin experience. The staff would recommend you start your day with a view over the rooftops of the city while you enjoy the hotel breakfast buffet, guaranteed to satisfy your every desire.
