We stayed here for 3 nights this summer. We had booked the hotel as part of a package with Inghams Lakes and Mountains.
The hotel is ideally placed for the bus and train stations and access to the waterbus. Main train station and waterbus on the Grand Canal is only a leisurley 5 minute stroll. From here it is possible to get the water bus to the main attractions if Venice. A very pleasant way to travel. I would advise a three day pass if staying a few days as this works out much cheaper than paying for single journeys.
There are pleasant walks with shops, cafes and restaurants near the hotel. It is also possible to walk to the Rialto 20 minutes and St Marks Square about a 40 minute walk but easy to get lost through windy streets. Closer to hand is the Jewish Ghetto about a 10 minute walk.
So back to the hotel itself. A big bonus is that it is air conditioned in all the public areas and the bedrooms. The public areas are bright, airy , clean and well decorated. The staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. The reception staff speak good English and are very happy to help when asked - we had some fun learning our room number in Italian !!
Cento venti duo (Room 122) unfortunatly I do not think is their best. The decor is tired and shabby and the view is a flat roof and brick wall. However, despite this the standard of cleanliness was fair and the bed reasonably comfortable. We regret now not paying extra for a room with a canal view which we guessed were also of a higher standard. However we did pay £500 for two of us for this 3 night stay.
Breakfast is buffet style with a range of cereals, cold meats, cheeses, eggs, preserves, brioche, bread and cake. Fruit juices, tea and coffee are self service - and the coffee is good - a great bonus for me who needs a caffiene boost to get going in the morning. There is a dining room indoors but more attractive is the pretty courtyard to breakfast al fresco. Beware of the sparrows!
To conclude a reasonable city budget hotel. However, I would not book again unless I had some reasurance that the bedrooms had been upgraded.
