Me and my family stayed here a few years ago. You can't fault this hotel
for luxury. After all it's a 5 star hotel. The rooms are spacious, it has a
large open air pool with plenty of sun loungers. There are 2 restaurants
which offer a variety of choices. However prices are high, and a better
option would be to drive to Marbella about 10 minutes away. You will
be spoilt for choices with an array of cuisines catered for.
One downside if you don't have a car you have to take Taxi's everywhere which could be costly if traveling longer distances. A feature of the hotel is the cabane which is a 5 minute drive away, with regular shuttle buses to take you there. Here you can relax away from the crowds on your private stretch of beach or by the swimming pool. Full size beds will have to be booked in advance and sun beds are available but ...
Advantages: Beautiful buildings and a real sense of history Disadvantages: Extremely touristy and more expensive than most of the country.
, a small town in the Urubama Valley, about an hour and a half away from Cuzco as the minibus trundles. It's a very beautiful city, surrounded on all sides by mountains and encircled by ancient ruins the Incas left behind them, in various states of violition. The Spanish plundered the temples for stone, but many are still standing after earthquakes that floored more modern buildings.
There are many hotels in the city, particularly around the main square, Plaza des Armas. As a rule these are pretty good, but the further out from the city centre you go, the shabbier they are. This is fine if one is after a more realistic experience, but caution is needed in the poorer areas as tourists can be an easy target for pickpocketers. One more thing - DON'T drink the water. Not even ice. It can make you really sick, as one of my campmates found out ...

Advantages: Beachfront location Disadvantages: None that I could see
This Is a lovely and the location is simply ideal, it is on a couple of small beaches that I think are very picturesque due to the volcanic rock. One of the thing that I loved about this hotel is that all the rooms have good sea views and balconys. This hotel has been a firm favourite with travellers for quite a few years now and has lost none of its appeal. It has lovely trees and gardens which are extremely well tended. The hotel has two pools, not very big but a lovely one for adults only, sunbeds cannot be reserved, and there were always plenty available.
Our room was very spacious (TIP - you can pay a little extra and get a seating area). Another plus was the wardrobe space which was superb.
The breakfast is served till 10.00 am and the selection is excellent as was the lunch buffet. The evening meal was very good as well, great ...
