Advantages: There comes a day when you can leave the hotel. Disadvantages: Too many to mention.
This hotel is expensive and the rooms are quite dirty. This seems to be the standard in many Colombian hotels, so I guess you can't hold it against them.
We were 3 people visting: My wife and I in a double and my mother-in-law in a single room. The hotel still uses keys for its doors, and the room key for our room had disappeared with the last guest, so we had to ask members of the cleaning staff to let us in every time we needed anything.
When we were about to check out, we were asked if we had taken anything from the mini-bar since the day before. We answered "No". This, apparently, was not enough for the staff, so we had to wait until a bell-boy had checked if our statements were true. We had a plane to catch at the airport, but we waited the 5 minutes until he came back. To our dismay he uttered that there was a candybar ...
Advantages: great location, cheap, nice rooms, excellent food Disadvantages: no parking, quite dated
Introduction to the hotel:
The Royal Albion Hotel was built in 1826 and is situated in a fantastic location opposite Brighton pier. It is a three star hotel and has 186 guest rooms offering views of Brighton beach or the town centre.
My experience of the hotel:
I spent one night in the hotel in January of this year and for a three star hotel I was quite impressed. I and my girlfriend booked a double room for Ł55 and it was a spacious room with a four poster bed, couch, satellite television, fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and a lovely modern bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. When we checked in the hotel staff asked us if we would like to upgrade to a room with a Jacuzzi batch for Ł10, we said no, but were a bit intrigued to find one anyways - they had obviously given our room away and were trying to get the extra Ł10 out ...
Advantages: Great location, lovely entrance areas Disadvantages: very shabby in bedrooms
there is a hotel with a similar name. We tried to get in (it was locked) and even buzzed for the porter- too late we noticed the sign telling us that this was not the Royal Terrace Hotel.
We found our hotel a bit further down the street, and after parking the car, went in. I have to mention that a down side to this hotel is that it doesn?t have a car park, and the car has to be parked on the street. We aren?t ?precious? about the car, but didn?t fancy having it towed a way, although the man assured us that over the weekend it would be fine?it was!
