Esbjerg airport is out of town, 10-15mins by taxi. The tourist information office is located on the main square, under a minute away if you run. There are ... ...a big jump from the hotel steps.

If you want a decent place to stay in the centre of town, this is probably going to be the cheapest option. Clean and cosy rooms, friendly staff, breakfast included and within crawling distance of most of the town's watering holes.
Local Info: If you take the ferry to Denmark from the UK, Esbjerg is the town you end up in. The centre of the town is a pedestrianised shopping street, and at its heart is a wide open square flanked by pavement cafes. There are bars annd restaurants in the square too, and an Irish pub called Paddys with English staff can almost be reached by a big jump from the hotel steps.

Communal areas and facilities There is a small lounge in the reception area, but this has no TV and only a couple of Sofa's. there is a single pc with free internet access at a desk here too. The lift is one of those features that has been preserved to add character - It is just about large enough for a push chair, but a pregnant mum would then have to run down the stairs to meet the chair at the bottom... Not easy. Another possible disadvantage is that some of the rooms are only accessible via stairs, so if you have mobility problems you will need to check this out. The restaurant area is huge, but there are lots of other places to eat within easy walking distance so I have never indulged in anything more than breakfast here.
Rooms. I have stayed in 4 of the rooms here, as my company uses the hotel, and while I don't mind spending time in the hotel, it isn't somewhere I look forward to visiting. The staff are friendly enough and helpful, and they all speak English, but the rooms are just a bit too old for it to get a top rating from me. If you like old B and B style places, this is great but if you don't... There is definitely some king of "old building aroma" lingering in some of the rooms, and the decor, bathroom fittings and electrical outlets all indicate that the place is getting on a bit. Don't get me wrong, everything works, it just isn't top drawer somehow. The rooms are also on the smaller side (though I wouldn't put it past my boss to request the smallest ones if they are cheaper) and there really isn't anything for kids to do on site.
Breakfast. Included in the price so I'll give it a mention. I don't know what time they start serving, but it's always before I get up, and that has been 6:30 on occasion. The food is a continental buffet, complete with fresh bread (and a toaster), jams, cheese, ham, and Danish pastries. There are cereals and yoghurts, fresh fruit, and a selection of juices. You can have coffee or tea, and take as long as you want to eat as much as you want.
Other info The hotel has 36 double rooms and 15 singles, all on suite. Dogs are allowed. Rooms are all smoke free, and all have their own TV, showing BBC World in addition to the foreign nonsense. There is free wireless internet access over the whole hotel, though I haven't tried this.
