If you want a once-in-a-lifetime experience, stay at the Arts Hotel, Barcelona, preferably over Christmas. This new hotel, the tallest building in Spain, has terrific views either over the city or the Med (the latter rooms slightly more expensive) from elegant, tastefully furnished rooms and service which is second to none. One has to get used to the rather odd hours kept by people from this city, who go out to dinner at midnight, and sleep through the afternoon. We had an invitation from the hotel to free drinks and bites to eat to be held at 4 a.m. When I rang reception to ask if this meant 4 p.m. I was told “No, 4 a.m.”! Just a word of warning – America-haters stay away, as many of the staff are trained in the U.S.A. as belied by the accents. However, there is a genuine warmth and you feel that they really care whether you enjoy your stay – it’s not just an empty “Have a Nice Day” (which I never heard once, incidentally).
Advantages: Ideally located on the sea front and boasts pure oppulence Disadvantages: Most popular hotel in Barcelona and availability can be difficult to secure
Probably considered to be one of the best hotels - if not, the bes hotel - in Europe.
It's modern contemporary style boasts pure elegance from the moment you step inside, particularly on entry to the first floor reception, which steps out onto a beautiful lawn, overlooking the sea, under the shadow of a large copper moument, which I do believe represents a fish.
The hotel rooms come with all the latest mod-cons and electonic gadgetary, from Bang and Olufsen music centres and televisions, to the electronically controlled blinds.
I was fortunate enough to stay in a suite on the 18th floor, with grand views across Barcelona from the harbour up towards the mountains in the distance. The benefit of the hotel is that whether you have a sea view or city view, both are stunning and you cannot be disappointed if you have not been given ...
Advantages: Lovely hotel! Disadvantages: They don't replace food much at breakfast
I went with my parents to barcelona recently and stayed at the Bel Art.
Overall, we were very pleased, it had a wonderful layout, the lobby and hotel itself was beautiful. The service was very good overall, particularly on the reception. The only bad things i have to say about it were that a couple of times when we went dwn to breakfast, they didnt replace the food often. But apart from that, the hotel was very efficent.
The bed was fairly comfortable bt I did get a bit cold in the night.
There is a bar/disco next door, but it made no sound really, you couldn't hear a thing.
It's right near to the Sagrada Familia, a big beautiful amazing church. Nearest metro station is 'Alfons X' (just turn right and keep going up, once you have left the hotel). Which is on the yellow line. There is also a metro station near Sagrada Familia ...
Advantages: Great location, gorgeous architecture Disadvantages: Expensive
The Claris is one of the most amazing hotels in Barcelona. We stayed for a weekend and it was perfect for a short break in Barcelona. The hotel has many recognisable features - an amazing collection of art - a combination of old and classical, some incredible features architecturally in glass and steel. Overall the hotel is very modern and stylish.
There are about 120 rooms, and the hotel has great wooden interiors, the flooring as well as the walls are also built in panels of wood with a decor to match. Bathrooms are modern and clean however the rooms definitely are the key highlight.
The room we stayed in had air-conditioning, telephone, fax-modem connection, satellite TV, CD player, safe and mini bar. One interesting feature of the hotel is a private museum of amazing egyptian artefacts.
The hotel was happy to arrange spa ...
