TREFF RAMADA GOSLAR

Advantages: Pleasant hotel not too far from the old town
Disadvantages: noisy!

While touring Germany last year, we wanted to break our journey from Berlin at a convenient spot. But we wanted somewhere we could spend a couple of days and have enough to do. After a bit of research we decided on Goslar, in the Harz mountains. Rather than staying in an hotel on the old town with some historic character, and ricketty floors, we opted for something more modern in the shape of the Treff Ramada which we managed to book direct for only 53 euros per night room only. The hotel is situated outside of the old town (1.5km), but it's pretty easy to find as it's only a few junctions from the main highway and well signposted in any case. It lies within a residential area, but is relatively private as it's set in its own, wooded grounds. It's not the most attractive building around (what was going on with architects in ...

Review of Ramada Hotel Baren, Goslar

Excellent modern hotel in Goslar

Advantages: Clean, comfortable, great food
Disadvantages: Long walk from centre, can be long walk from food

We stayed at the Ramada Treff Baren for 4 nights as part of a tour package and found it to be a clean, modern, comfortable hotel as you would expect from the Ramada chain. Meals come in the form of a self-service buffet with plenty of choice and excellent quality. The one downside to mealtimes was the potentially long walk from your allocated table to the buffet, in our case out of the room, through the bar then along the full length of the restaurant, then back again, in both directions dodging the other guests going the opposite way. Maybe only full-price guests get to sit near the food. While this is an excellent base for exploring the Harz Mountains in general, its a bit far out of the centre of Goslar for casually wandering in and out, about 20 minutes walk, mainly uphill, from the centre, though I believe there is ...

Review of Ramada Hotel Baren, Goslar

The Strand Palace Hotel

Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms

We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated ...
