Advantages: Within easy reach of Munich Centre, Friendly welcoming staff Disadvantages: No credit card facilities
...Back at the start of the year I decided, along with my parents, that a trip to the opening weekend of Oktoberfest in Munich was a great idea for a holiday this year. The only problem seemed to be the cost of a hotel in Munich itself for that weekend. The majority of places were booked up and those that weren't wanted anywhere from £100 + per person per night. It was for this reason that we ended up staying in Starnberg, about half an hour to the south of central Munich. When my dad told me about it, it seemed a little excessive, we would spend half an hour each way on a train.
The more I thought about it though, the more the HotelBayerischerHof seemed to be quite appealing. It's located on the edge of lake Starnberg, about half an hour south of Munich towards the Austrian border. If it had been in Britain you could guarantee getting...

...15 miles from the airport, central to city and the metro/bus stop is just a couple of minutes away. A 10 minute stroll will get you to the river. Very good for location, situated in a back street close to the ring road so very quiet. You might miss it if you were not looking for it.
Very clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room facilties very good the only problem is that there are not tea/coffee making opportunites.
They have a seperate bar/restaurant on the front side of the hotel on the main street. Again lots of bars locally, and recommend the local beer (lager) Kolsch of which there are many different varietys.
Room prices are not that cheap, but well worth it. (99 Euros or £66 appx as at Feb 2006
Plenty of good restaurants from Asian to Turkish, I would suggest you try Farmers Restaurant if you like Steak...

Advantages: Beautiful City, Great Food, Wonderful Museums, Close to Alps Disadvantages: Too Many Tourists In The Summer
..., about 100km south, but there are far better options across the border in Austria, which are equally accessible. In summer, King Ludwig's
Castle at Neuschwannstein is a practically un-missable day-trip, if you can spare the time.
GETTING AROUND: The best means of exploring Munich can be summed up in two words: Public Transport. Munich's train-network, which is separated into U-Bahns & S-Bahns, is clean, efficient and very reasonably priced. Taxi's, as elsewhere in Germany, are also very reliable.
WHERE TO STAY: Like most cities of this size, Munich has a comprehensive array of accommodation on offer. The huge and grand BayerischerHof, founded in 1841, is located in the centre of the city, and is arguably one of the loveliest hotels in the world. Doubles start from 240 Euro, but rise fairly exponentially thereafter. At the other end...

My impressions of this game when I saw it advertised on the internet was that it looked like a completely different type of game that I'm used to seeing for the DS.

I lived in New York City for a few years, but had little experience of its hotels until after I'd moved away. My husband and I stayed in the Library Hotel in late August of 2004 for two nights. After spending a few nights in one of its sister hotels the... more
