If you are looking for a chic, modern hotel in a quiet but central part of Prague, and don't want to spend a fortune, the Bellagio is probably for you.

This 46 room hotel was completely renovated in 2002 and offers all the facilities you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Our room was large and comfortable, elegantly decorated and furnished. We had two big single beds pushed together, a seating area with two chairs and a table, tv, (with MTV, sky news), mini bar, plenty of space, light and chocolates on the pillow. The bathroom was huge and had a great big walk in shower, no bath, but plenty of fluffy towels and toiletries.
We were on the top floor, so our view was mostly of rooftops, but from the staircase outside you looked onto a pretty courtyard.

We discovered that the room service menu (drinks only) was cheaper than the mini bar, so called down for drinks rather than serving ourselves. The barman must have flown he was so quick!

Reception was quick and efficient, you didn't have to wait too long for the lift, and breakfast was a good combination of English and continental with a good selection of breads, meats, cheeses, fruit, sausages, eggs, bacon, tea, coffee, juice and things to put on your toast. It was served in the Italian restaurant which is in the 'basement' of the hotel, and was policed by a very scary waiter who followed you round scowling until you handed him your 'breakfast vouchers' which you get when you check in - and woe betide you if you haven't filled them in with your names, date, room number - I hate to think what might have happened if we'd forgotten to take them, we'd probably have ended up in the juicer!

If you survive breakfast you then have Prague on your doorstep. The Bellagio is in the Josevof quarter, which is part of the old town. We were 3 minutes walk north of the old town square, the river was a street away and we walked to the castle (up a huge hill) in about 15 minutes. On a warm day.
In any direction from the hotel there are plenty of bars and restaurants of varying style, cuisine and price range. This is despite the fact that we decided we were in a smart part of town, as we walked towards the Old Town Square we passed Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Faberge, Dunhill, etc. and a couple of super chic establishments, which we visited, although we probably wouldn't have dared had we been in e.g. Knightsbridge!
Despite all there is around the quarter is quiet in the evenings, plenty of strolling couples and not a hint of a stag party. We could look over the river to the beautifully floodlight castle almost from our front door.

We didn't try the Bellagio's restaurant cause we were so spoilt for choice, and didn't fancy Italian, can get that at home.
We also didn't have a drink in the hotel bar, as it was actually part of the lobby, and quite small, although as a lobby its fine.

The hotel happily looked after our luggage on the day we left, we swapped it for a numbered tag with the porter.

I booked online after getting quotes from a few different travel services, and obviously picked the cheapest! The Bellagio is not a cheap hotel but as we were celebrating our anniversary we wanted somewhere nice. Our room was approx £75 a night including breakfast but I feel we got value for money and the location alone is worth a few £££
