A budget base for exploring Milan
Review of Minotel Teco, Milan by  emmorticia

Advantages: cheaper than many in the area, clean, comfortable, easy access to sights
Disadvantages: bathroom not great, no restaurant

...Named the 10th most expensive city in the world in terms of cost of living (Mercer's Cost of Living Survey, 2008), Milan isn't generally a city you'd associate with budget hotels. However, that was exactly what I was in search of when travelling to the city for a 3-night stay in October 2008. Knowing that a large proportion of my money would be spent on shopping and eating out, I was on the hunt for accommodation that was cheap, central and comfortable. You'l struggle to find anything that fits the bill in the centre of the city - anything in the Duomo (cathedral) or main shopping areas tends to be more pricey, or cheap for a good reason (i.e., incredibly basic). We were happy to look a little further out, and eventually decided to book a twin room at Hotel Teco through laterooms.com. LOCATION Hotel Teco is located on a tiny... Read review

Warning - in red light district!!!
Review of Berna Hotel, Milan by  spice81

Advantages: good breakfast, handy location
Disadvantages: red light district, hotel split into 2 buildings

...We picked the hotel as there were 3 of us visiting Milan on a limited budget so we needed somewhere reasonably priced with a triple room. Hotel Berna fitted our requirements but it wasn't anything special. We arrived late to the hotel due to flight delays and were a bit worried about the neighbourhood while driving through it. The following afternoon our fears were confirmed when we discovered it was in the red light district of Milan (during daylight hours too!!). I definitely wouldn't recommend the area for families with young children, or single travellers who might feel a little intimidated. But as i was there with 2 other girls, i felt safe enough, but we didn't venture out at night on our own. The hotel is split into 2 buildings and unfortunately we were in the building over the road from reception which meant we had to... Read review

WAKE ME AMADEUS
Review of Comfort Hotel Amadeus, Milan by  tractor-boy

Advantages: Clean, Comfortable, Location
Disadvantages: My Ears!

...As 2008 drew to a close I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to pay a flying visit to Milan, the purpose of which was twofold - to soak up some culture in the fine city, and also take in a football match at the famous Stadio San Siro. Because the trip was part of a package we were unable to specify flight companies or hotels of our own accord, instead relying on the powers that be that put these all inclusive city breaks together. So it was we found our party of three transported from Malpensa airport to the hotel Amadeus in the fashionable shopping district of Milan, a clean looking three star hotel, boasting eighty rooms. Location, Location, Location Little doubt that the location of the Amadeus is one of its strengths. Although it is a good hour’s drive from Malpensa airport it is – quite literally – a stone...
