We have just returned from a Week-end in Porto.
We were looking for a Hotel that had good location and some olde world charm, so this one seemed to tick the boxes.
We booked it thru Octopustravel.com for £165 that being for a Double Room with Buffet Breakfast for three nights (About £27 per person per night B&B).
Getting to the Hotel from the Airport can not be easier. You get the Metro from the Airport, you can not get on the wrong one as that is the start of the line, no changes necessary just stay on unti the BOLHAO stop (approx 25 mins) cost 1 Euro 85 Cents (purchase ticket from Tourist Info Booth in arrival hall, or if braver from the Ticket Machines in the Metro (Do have an English Button) for instructions.

A very pleasant hotel in a great location in one of the best cities on earth. We booked into this hotel for two nights on disembarking from our honeymoon cruise. Although we had already seen lots of places and sights during our cruise the Ala helped make us feel like we were on a new holiday from our water taxi arrival to the moment we departed.
Location and access.
The Ala is located in San Marco about 10 minutes walk from St Mark's Square. It is also 5 minutes to the Ponte Accademia and about 20 to the Rialto. It will obviously take longer if you stop and admire the sights around every corner. There is a waterbus stop about 5 minutes away and a Traghetti 100 yards away. Our stay was on a half board basis and we found the restaurant to be very pleasant with more than adequate choice at dinner but a little sparse for British taste, at breakfast. However, the food was always very well presented, ample and wholesome so no real complaints (after all we choose to holiday in the country!) The bar terrace and a'la carte eatery offered a 10% discount for hotel guests. There was also a very small covered pool in the garden area.
The hotel was only a very short walk from the bus station with services to neighbouring resorts and the cities of Manacor and Palma. Buses were frequent and reasonably priced though time keeping was not a strong point! We used the services to Palma (1hr), Calas de Mallorca (20 mins), Sa Coma (15 mins), Cala Millor (20 mins).
