I stayed at Calafont Hotel from 5th - 19th September 2005. This is my review: We arrived late evening with family and friends. I was sharing a room with my Partner and our 9mth old Son, so we all went to reception to get our keys. We doubled checked with them that there was a cot in our room (as a member of the family had pre-ordered them) to our astonishment they said "we don't have cots here". There was nothing we could do about it so we took the lift up to our room where we found 3 single beds. The only thing we could think of doing was pushing all the beds together against a wall so the baby wouldn't fall out when he was asleep. In the next morning we went down for breakfast (we were half board) the staff were friendly, the food was adaquete. The hotel looked beautiful they even had an amazing man-made waterfall. I couldn't believe my eyes i never imagined the hotel to look like this especially for a 3 star hotel. We decided to have a look around the beach which was right next to the hotel. The first week we were there was ok, but the second week dragged as there was nothing to do (in walking distance). I think the holiday would suit older couples (50+) or people who didn't want to venture very far. The area is quiet and very scenic. There are private beaches and views across the ocean. There are also a few places (restaurants, pubs) close by .
Advantages: on the beach Disadvantages: set on very steep hill, not good for wheelchair users
...our balcony, lovely views. The hotel is right on the beach and has it's own private beach, which is quite small really but a huge public beach is just around the back of the hotel. The food was quite good, there is a house chef who has a dish of the day which he cooks in the restaurant rather that in the kitchen, well it isn't really a "dish" it's usually a meat, eg, steaks etc. The only downside that I found with this holdiay was the entertainment, ...

Advantages: In the quieter Cap de Salou area of town Disadvantages: Not for the physically unfit
We stayed at the Hotel Cala Font on the Autumn of 2004 for a week and enjoyed our stay there so much we returned the following spring.
The Cala Font is a three star hotel in the Cap de Salou area of Salou on the Costa Dorada. Please note that the Cap de Salou is almost a small hill - so nearly everywhere you go either involves moderate slopes or steps - If any of your party have any difficulty walking it is advisable not to stay in this area of ... ...were polite and helpful.
The Hotel has a full sized pool with a smaller childrens pool, and overlooks a small beach. We stayed slightly out of season so sunbeds were plentiful but could prove to be hard to come by in high season. After dark the Hotel has a daily entertainment programme which usually starts with a toddlers disco and continues with a more family entertainment. Advantages: Lots of attractions, Port Aventura, nice beaches, lots of hotels, restaurants, 1hr from Barcelona, a bit more unusual that the usual Spanish holiday resort Disadvantages: Can get very got in peak season, monsoons occasionally (we had the misfortune to have one whilst we stayed and it was the most rain I have witnessed in my LIFE!)
...I visited Salou on Spain's Costa Dorada in May 1996. A lot of Salou is fairly "concrete jungle"-ish but there are lots of nice parts too. The beaches are lovely and clean and full of clear blue medditerranean ocean.
The main town centre of Salout is fairly small but not tiny. There are shops, restaurants, a funfair, and a lovely promenade walk alongside lots of very tall palm trees on either side.
There are plenty of hotels in Salou and the standard varies. We stayed in the "CalaFont", which was a very large 6-storey hotel and was excellent. The pool was great, the staff very pleasant and the food above average.
Salou has many attractions both in the town of Salou and neighbouring towns. For example, the theme park "Port Aventura" is excellent and features many great rides, shows, and attractions. Read my review of that in...
