In February I visited Monterey, a beautiful town on the central coast of California about 110 miles south of San Francisco which has become a popular tourist resort.
Why Monterey?
This town is 2-3 hours by road from San Francisco, less from the airport or from San Jose and Silicon Valley, and I think about 6 or 7 hours drive from Los Angeles. Because of its location and attractiveness, it has become a popular choice for conventions, and an event was organised there for readers and writers of mystery and crime fiction called Left Coast Crime over a long weekend in February. Hundreds of us descended on the town for a few days. Mikey and I arrived on Tuesday.

I vistied Bordeuax in the summer for the Bristol-Bordeaux exchange. This consisted of me going to Bordeaux for two weeks trying to improve my French. It worked!
there is a lot of great features in Bordeaux. the airoport was the first thing i saw. It was very clean and ran on time.
I then was on the road where you see all the vine yards and big houses. the only bad thing was the amount of grafiti. this was probably becasue i was driving through a bad suburb.
The shops in Bordeaux are very good with a huge selection of shops. The main shopping street is about 1km long (well so i was told.) they had all the good English shops which were a little cheaper. I always would recommend purchasing your tickets before you leave the UK as you tend to get better value. You can purchase 2,3,4 and 5 day hopper tickets allowing you access to both parks starting from £65 per adult and at least you don't have to queue up to purchase tickets when you arrive.
