Hotel Can Pastilla, Palma de Majorca

Advantages: Quiet
Disadvantages: Intermittent hot water, ants! Quiet! very small rooms.

...Holiday Fun! (although this may not look as if it is connected to the review it is) We got up at some unearthly time of the morning, drove to Gatwick, flew on a prompt, clean plane, landed in Majorca, everything was going so smoothly. We took a taxi, to Can Pastilla, and asked to be dropped at the entrance to the Hotel Can Pastilla where we had booked a self catering apartment for the first week of June 2006. Our first thought was the taxi must have dropped us off at the back of the hotel, so we lugged out cases round the block to the front, or so we thought, the front looked more like the back than what we thought the back was. So we picked up our cases once again and went round the only side that we hadn't yet seen. Then we went round the front again. Advantages: Quick transfers, good central location and transport
Disadvantages: Very German the further towards S'Arenal you get

...with Marina Balear. But food will be Spanish. The bathrooms are next on the list of improvements if the hotel can find a period to close to carry out the plans. The brochure referred to C’an Pastilla as a cosmopolitan resort. This was translated into ordinary English, as meaning “very few British” Some would be as grateful for this as others would be aghast. But facts are facts. C’an Pastilla effortlessly moves into Playa de Palma which unknowingly becomes S’Arenal. These resorts are a little piece of Germany. Personally, when in Berlin, not when in Mallorca. I am sure an open minded Bavarian would say the same of the British in Magaluf. I love my food and love the Luz Marina restaurant. Advantages: Quiet location, lovely hotel, brilliant food, private beach.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive and could be a bit quiet.

With the remainder of my student loan already exhausted by a weekend break with my University friends it seemed like the best proposal I was going to get this summer. My parents chose the sunny island of Majorca for our destination and the hotel Riu Palace Bonanza Playa. The island of Majorca is the largest of the three Balearic Islands and is located in the Mediterranean Sea off the south east coast of mainland Spain. The primary language spoken in Majorca is Spanish although many of the inhabitants speak English and German also to accommodate the large tourist influxes from both of these countries.
