Advantages: Music and the beach combined. A totally different setting. Disadvantages: Overpowering heat. Really overpowering. Very bad crowd control measures.
the 3 biggest European events, and so now was the turn of Benicāssim in Spain, which is probably about the 4th biggest. I'd heard of one friend of a friend who had been there, but essentially I did not know what to expect. Anyway, I was able to get a ticket at face value (160 euro, which is quite reasonable in comparison), which is for 4 days of music, and a whopping 9 days of camping. I then booked a Ryanair flight to Reus airport (near Barcelona), and so I was all set.
You fly in over the Pyrenees, and the first thing you notice about the area is that it's quite rugged. The first thing to do at the airport is to take off your jeans and wring the sweat out from your shirt. Benicāssim itself appears to be a midsized town, with a Lidl, a "Chelsea" pub, a water park, and 10-storey blocks of hotels and apartments. The festival site is a couple ...

Many of the airlines only offer a restricted service outside of the period from May to October, however.
There are a host of rental car companies with desks at the airport, but no rail connection, so the only other way to get into Halifax itself is to take the airport shuttle bus. Depending on the time of day, the route is served by 24 or 48-seater buses, and it runs to and from the airport approximately 20 times per day, stopping to pick up and drop off at a large number of hotels (a complete list of the hotels served by the bus is available from the Airporter website - link below). The fare is 19CAD per person ...
Advantages: good music Disadvantages: acommodation
Benicassim festival has been celebrated in Benicassim (town located in the east coast of Spain) for the last 10 years. It takes place on the first weekend of august. Four days of concerts in a precincts 15 minutes far from the centre of the town.
It is quite expensive but it is worth it. You can buy a four day ticket which allows you to stay in one of the campings of the town for the whole week. This is not very advisable since it uses to be incredibly hot at that time of the year and the bathrooms are often crowded and dirty (no hot water). If you decide to rent an appartment (which may be the best option) or book a hotel room you should do it months before the concerts because the town is pretty busy those days. ...
