Hotel Capri, Havana

Advantages: An excellent introduction to Havana's charms
Disadvantages: None to note (despite the 'socks')

...Back in 2004 I was lucky enough to celebrate the New Year in Havana the capital city of Cuba and vowed if ever I were to return I would spend a few days staying with the lady that is proclaimed to be 'The Jewel of Havana' better known as the Hotel Nacional De Cuba. Needless to say during that first trip I fell in love with the people, the music and the overwhelming ambience of the country and of course Che Guevara (all over again). The Journey…. During my post Christmas blues this year I booked a return trip. Advantages: Beautiful Views, secluded location
Disadvantages: No restaurant in the hotel

...We had hoped to go to Sardinia, but that was out of our price range. Italy has always been a favourite so when we found we could afford go to Capri we were really excited. The Hotel Weber Ambassador were really helpful from start to finish. We booked direct through their website which saved money on the Expedia listed price, though I think it would depend whether you were going high season or not. Originally we were a little apprehensive having read the mixed reviews on trip advisor, but being of the disposition that a holiday is what you make it we packed ourselves off and flew into Naples. An Italian bus ride across town to the port and battle through the ticket touts for a boat ticket and we were on our way. Advantages: Loads to see and do, great people
Disadvantages: Many hustlers, can become tiring

...'s probably a museum dedicated to it in Havana. We tried the Museum of the Automobile - an old building containing a few dusty old vintage cars, badly lit and half not captioned in any language. We had heard that Che Guevara's Cadillac was displayed here so we asked an attendant who shook her head but gave no explanation as to why we could not see it. She did though point out a rusty old vehicle in almost darkness at the back which she said had belonged to Castro - unlit, unlabelled - so typical of Cuban museums! We left four CP worse of, not really knoing what we'd been looking at other than " some dirty old cars". Two very popular sights are related to the Hemingway Trail.
