...I appreciate others may have had a great time at this hotel but my personal experience was very poor.
We visited the restaurant at the Hotel Metropole and were served a square slab of pizza as if it had come from a budget frozen food store. The pizza was cold with some tinned mushrooms, ham & tomato thrown on top. When we complained about this the staff were unwilling to help. Eventually they reheated the pizza to within an inch of its life. When we refused to pay for this poor quality food, the best they could offer was a threat to call the police and abuse of my wife and I.
My advice - Avoid this hotel at all costs. There are far better places on LakeComo with "Real" Italian food, served by staff who appreciate their customers....

Advantages: Spectacular scenery, Italian food, great ferries, not overrun by tourists Disadvantages: Attractions close smack in the middle of the day, credit cards rarely accepted

While MasterCard, Visa and Amex claim there's nowhere you can't go that won't take their cards Italian attractions honor only cash. If you visit Switzerland which is less than an hours drive away remember they use Swiss Francs. They do take Euros at Swiss tourist attractions but expect change back in Swiss Francs.
BellagioBellagio is the epitomy of LakeComo, a pretty lakeside town perched on the promontory of the Y where the lake splits into two. Afterwards you can enjoy the windy steep alleys, or if like us you have young kids or a stroller you can merely walk slowly up and down them.

Advantages: Small, smart, central Disadvantages: Nowhere to 'lounge'
...If you are looking for a chic, modern hotel in a quiet but central part of Prague, and don't want to spend a fortune, the Bellagio is probably for you.
This 46 room hotel was completely renovated in 2002 and offers all the facilities you would expect from a 4 star hotel. Our room was large and comfortable, elegantly decorated and furnished. We had two big single beds pushed together, a seating area with two chairs and a table, tv, (with MTV, sky news), mini bar, plenty of space, light and chocolates on the pillow. The bathroom was huge and had a great big walk in shower, no bath, but plenty of fluffy towels and toiletries.
We were on the top floor, so our view was mostly of rooftops, but from the staircase outside you looked onto a pretty courtyard.
We discovered that the room service menu (drinks only) was cheaper than...
