Advantages: Handy for Cascais Disadvantages: Not pushchair friendly, limited choice
The big brother to Cascais centre's Cascais Villa, this shopping centre is located about 15 min. to the North of the town centre - expect to pay about 6 euro if you're taking a taxi from the station. It's got a reasonable range of stores, with a large Continente supermarket , FNAC, Zara & Zara Home, Area, Toys R Us and various clothes / gifts / homeware shops, plus restaurants,on site. However, parents of babies & toddlers be warned : it's quite tricky to navigate with a pushchair! There are 2 lifts in the centre of the mall, but these can take forever to arrive. Also, to get to the Sports Zone on the top level, you need to go outside into the car park if you've got a pushchair - nightmare! If you want to catch the bus from Cascais, it only runs very infrquently, and to get the bus back you have to negotiate loads of steps to cross ...
I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal.
PRICE:
Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time ...
Advantages: Clean good sized rooms. Efficient staff. The cold buffet breakfast Disadvantages: The hot breakfast dishes and noise from the bar opposite
A modern and comfortable hotel with good sized clean rooms and an excellent bathroom. It is located 5 minutes from the marina and 15 minutes from the centre. The best beach is a further 10 minute walk away. A good swimming pool with free sunbeds. Breakfast is plentiful with a good choice which can be categorized in 2 parts. Cold buffet is superb, The hot food is moderate. The scrambled eggs were inedible and there was no fried eggs. The sausages were poor and the queue for the one toaster was intolerable. The staff were first class in efficiency. The hotel was let down down by the location being opposite a beer garden that had live music until 1.30 many mornings which kept us awake. For us the noise and from the bar and the location were the only real negative issue from what was otherwise a lovely stay. ...
