Advantages: Calm professional staff, quiet setting Disadvantages: If you can't get it at a bargain rate, it's not worth the price.
the new tickets straight away.
Dinner, beer and a bit of mooching around
Returning to the hotel in the evening we ate in the ground floor restaurant called 'Patio' which serves a wide range of international cuisine. The prices were predictably a lot higher than elsewhere in the city but that was to be expected and still a lot cheaper than a 4 star hotel restaurant in Europe. We were just looking for a quiet stress-free dinner and not after a gourmet delight. Outside at the pool families of Indian guests were splashing around, scaring off the pigeons and having a great time. We popped to the bar for a beer and headed off for an early night.
In addition to Patio they have a Japanese restaurant that has won awards for its food as well as an Indian restaurant.
Check out - and they're off
The next morning we did get a bit ...
Advantages: A landmark hotel Disadvantages: It's a long way from home
hotels for the extra nights that weren't covered by our tour.
It soon became apparent that even though we were travelling at a time of year when nobody with half a brain would choose to go to Delhi (i.e. second half of June with the monsoon on the horizon and temperatures up around 40 degrees) the options were limited. We could either pay £10 and stay in a place with hot and cold running cholera, bed bugs and well-shared sheets, or pay £80-plus for a run of the mill 'international standard' hotel. Exodus wanted £95 per night for the 'very average' hotel that would be home for part of our stay but the location wasn't great and I thought the price was too high. At the back of my mind I was hankering after a bit of a blow-out at a fancy hotel but wondering if I could really justify the cost.
So I read dozens of reviews, weighed up the pros ...
I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the HotelInternational on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights.
LOCATION:
The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal.
PRICE:
Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time ...
