Advantages: well located in the Netherlands Disadvantages: not that many sightseeing points
...of tourists during the summer. For tourist there is not the wide range of sighseeing highlights, but don't forget that you are situated in the middle between two interesting cities. Futhermore there is a pretty shopping area in the area of the parliament, where you find the same stuff like in Rotterdam or Amsterdam.
It takes about 45 min to AMS central station and about 25 minutes to Rotterdam CS from The Hague CS. It means if you are for one week in the Netherland for vacation it makes sense not to go to Amsterdam or Rotterdam but take favour of The Hague where you can start your several sightseeing tours. Regarding a hotel I can recommend the Sofitel, which is very very close (about 50 metres) to the central station (about 250 NLG a night) or the famous Parkhotel (about 250 NLG a night) which is located at the beach area of Scheveningen...

Advantages: Amazing Night Life!!!!! Disadvantages: Loud!!!
...During the Nazi occupation local resistance sussed out the Nazi spys by having people pronounce the name of the town Scheveningen. So don't embarrass yourself trying to say it!
5 minutes from the Hague, 15 minutes from Delft and about 40 minutes from Amsterdam; if you are looking for night life Scheveningen is the place to be.
The boardwalk is strewn with cafes and clubs, some staying open as late, or as early as 6AM.
I still haven't visited Scheveningen by day yet so I'm unable to comment on the day life, although from what I can gather it would be excellent for a day at the beach.
There is a Bungy Jump Club situated at the end of the pier and a large shopping mall, offering late night shopping on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 11pm.
There is a very large Holland Casio, difficult to miss when you step off the tram...
