...arrived. Despite what the guidebook said about Sunday opening, it was closed for lunch! Distance-wise for me, it’s not much further than Birmingham, and time-wise, it’s even nearer. I know where I’d rather spend a weekend. Incidentally, the return journey, door to door, was just 3 hours, including two tube trains from Waterloo to Hounslow Central, and a 1 mile walk rather than wait 30 mins for the next availible mini-cab - not bad eh? Useful reading at a price to suit weekenders. AA Essential Lille - ISBN 0-7495-2423-5 @ £ 3.99. The hotel's free map wasn't bad either! At least now I know what I've missed, including the Bois De Boulogne (yes, Lille's got one too) a remarkable polygonal citadel dating back over 300 years, The Museum of Modern Art and The Fine Arts Museum. ...We visted the Hotel Armadams for our honeymoon back in October 2006 for a short break to take in the sights and sounds of Palma. It is situated one "block" away from the main promenade in Palma, a road lined on one side with bars, hotels, shops and the marina and harbour area on the other. I am not a great Spanish speaker, infact I know only the most basic of phrases to muddle through, but the staff were very understanding and very helpful, even though we weren't checking in until really late following a delayed flight. The room was exceptional. Clean crisp tiled floors beautufully airy which really made a good first impression. We had a view looking out at the flats opposite, but a sneaky view between the buildings to the goregous marina opposite. Features of the room were also impressive, with a mini bar, television... ...My husband and I stayed here a year or so ago, he took me for a surprise weekend away and I was very impressed with the hotel. He firstly choose De vere's as they are known to have very nice, luxury hotels at quite good prices in good locations. This location was fantastic. At first though I must admit I was a bit disappointed because looking at the photograph of the hotel you expect it to have a lovely huge green area in front of it but that is actually the park next to the hotel. The hotel is situated right in the town and not really surrounded by green area at all as the photo suggests but never mind, it did not put us off. The location like I said was in town, just a short walk down the road (Regent Street) to all the shops and restaurants so after a great day sightseeing etc it did not take long to get back "home".
