I stayed in the Hotel Croatia back in June 2002. It’s located in a small Croatian town called Cavtat. The place is absolutely gorgeous! One of the most beautiful and unspoilt places I’ve ever visited.
And the hotel was really good. It is quite big – there are over 450 rooms on 11 floors. And you have a choice of rooms with a sea-view or a view of the bay. We had satellite TV, telephone, a mini-bar, a hair-dryer and the bathroom was immaculately clean! The bedding is good too, what I really appreciate in a hotel is whether they have European duvets, and not those awful sheets and woollen covers.
The hotel has two pools - indoor and outdoor with sunbeds and umbrellas. There is also a beach, a tennis court, a massage facility.
The only disadvantage is you are allocated a table for breakfast (and dinner – if you are staying half-board). You can’t choose your neighbours (there are four people at each table), and the restaurant is too big and noisy. It is self-service, I prefer waiter service. But the choice of food was quite good, their varied the menu daily.
There is also another restaurant in the hotel, but we didn’t try it. The bar is quite good. A small shop in the lobby sells some nice souvenirs.
I really, really enjoyed my stay there and will not hesitate to come back.
