Hotel D'Orange D'Alcantara, Francavilla Al Mare

Advantages: Location, comfy beds and loungers, friendly staff (mostly),tours on offer
Disadvantages: Vegetarian Nightmare, Menu selections boastful(drinks too)not Cuban enough ?

...A generally friendly and efficient hotel. We travelled with Captivating Cuba. Overall despite hitting the end of a tropical storm we had a great time. Eco Tours did some great tours and we'd especially recommend 'Inside the Countryside' - an opportunity to see life for real in the rural countryside. Ask what tours are available-there are more than advertised generally. A word of warning to Vegetarians-this hotel really needs to get it's act together. Bits of ham hidden in pasta salads, rice dishes, green beans cooked with bacon thus making the sometimes limited food selection for vegetarians even more tricky-if you are big on meat you will love it. Bars knock up a good cocktail, but expect no to Mojitas as they had no mint ! Don't be put off though-comfy beds and sunloungers, and generally a willingness to help... Read review

Advantages: Best "All Inclusive" package I've been on!!
Disadvantages: The public toilets, although spotlessly clean, still niffed a bit!!

...I stayed here at the end of August 2006 with my whole extended family (me, my husband, 3 year old daughter, 1 year old son, my Mum and Dad, My brother and his girlfriend and my sister and her friend - 10 in total). When we arrived my family (husband and kids) were given a lovely large room in the oldest part of the hotel; Luna, and the rest were roomed in the other part; Mares, which is about a 10 minute walk away through lovely paths surrounded by greenery. At first we were all disappointed about this as we wondered how we would find each other each day but there were free inter-room calls which made this easy. Our room was on a corner and had 2 walls of windows and 1 of these went out onto a balcony shaded by large palm trees. .... There were gowns on the bed, personal hygiene kits in the bathroom, made by Virgin. Bottled fizzy water and orange juice daily too along with tea, coffee and hot chocolate plus biscuits. You'll find a host of extras, including a desk with workstation. A Crown Executive bedroom offers a number discounts throughout the hotel, including reduced prices on packed lunches! There are five dedicated meeting rooms can accommodate a maximum of 120 people with the adjacent Conference café offering a relaxing breakout option. This area has a bar which offers coffee, alcoholic beverages, light snacks, bar meals and sandwiches. If you cannot draw yourself away from work there are even workstations at the easy chairs! **Restaurant** Borders Restaurant offers a suitable ambience for serving excellent food and fine wines.
