This hotel was great for what we wanted. Something reasonably priced, with reasonable rooms and breakfast to start the day. First impressions were not good. After walking the length of the street looking for the hotel we eventually found it by pressing an entry buzzer on the street. A gruff sounding man answered 'Hotel derby'. Slightly scared and with terrible Italian we said that we had booked. We entered and then got into a lift that looked as if it was built at the same time as the Duomo! However, once past the entrance the hotel was great. Our room was exactly what we wanted, with its own bathroom. There was a slight smell from the next door room who I think were probably having problems with a leaking toilet but apart from that it was fine. The room even had its own balcony which gave us great views at night over the hill around Florence. The breakfast was adequate, cereal, juice, coffee bread and toast. The hotel was in a good location, concidering that it was fairly cheap. We walked everywhere, the Duomo and the railway station being within 5 minutes walk. I can't remember the exact cost of the room but it was between 40 and 50 euros a night. I would definately stay here again.
