Advantages: Central to the town and overlooking the Danube. Disadvantages: A bit expensive. The sauna and pool are closed until december 2007.
The Hotel danube in Bratislava , overlooking the beautiful blue river danube ,or donau, as it is known in Germany. It is spacious and scrupulously clean .The staff are friendly and professional with an excellent command of the English language. It has a swimming pool and gym facilities although these are currently closed for renovation until december 2007. There is an excellent restaurant, conference rooms and they have a massive grand piano in the foyer with a resident musician.Luxury soaps, body lotion, shampoos are provided and there is a safe in each room , also, an essential item, a hair dryer. There is covered parking accessed with a card. It is situated right in the heart of the town which is buzzing with vitality and has an air of euphoria after the years of communist oppression. Bratislava itself is emerging from the shadows ...
Advantages: Reasonably priced, clean, modern Disadvantages: Not in the city centre as one might reasonably assume from the name
We stayed her for one night. It's billed as close to City Centre but this is not strictly true. It is a bus, tram or trolley-bus ride away and will take an average of about 20 minutes to get there. It may save a lot of hassle to take a taxi which at about Ł5 is a reasonably priced option. The hotel is bright, clean and modern. The room we had was a twin superior, non smoking room on 9th floor with a small balcony. We had only paid for a standard room but were upgraded without additional cost on arrival. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The bathroom though small was adequate with snow white fluffy towels and a nice display of freebies. The breakfast buffet was extensive and plentiful and the staff were pleasant and helpful. I would definetly stay here again. ...
Advantages: Cheap, reasonably cheerful, one of the city's better hotels Disadvantages: Eastern Europe and Western Europe still differ a lot
I went to visit Slovakia for a short break when I was living in Vienna, spending 3 nights in Bratislava, staying at the Hotel Turist (read on to see why the op’s called Hotel Filmstar). I was in quite a good mood when I arrived as my taxi had only ended up costing me 50p more than the hotel had said it should – quite an achievement I thought considering I don’t speak a word of Slovakian. The first thing I realized when I arrived, though, is that websites can lie. You probably knew this already, but I was a naive little teenager at the time and I thought that if a website said something, then it must be true. The following quotes come from their website ( www.turist.sk/ ).
“Hotel Turist offers comfortable accommodation for favourable price in 99 double and triple rooms, which are equipped with bathroom, toilet ...
