Advantages: Historic city. lot of heritage. Disadvantages: The strrets in the "Old City" are heavily congested
...Malaysia is not over endowed with heritage buildings but the one town in the Peninsular which has more than its fair share is Malacca. Once the greatest sea port and spice trading centre in the region,Malacca is often billed as the place "where it all began".
The place still oozes charm and the must see sights include the Porta Desantiago - a reminder of the Portuguese rule of the 16 th century- the reconstructed Malacca Sultanate Palace, St.Paul's Church and the red coloured Stadthuys, which are a reminder of Dutch rule. Also in town is the Clock tower and the Queen Victoria Fountain, which was dedicated to the Queen back in 1904.The Portuguese Settlement is also well worth a visit.
Not surprisingly this old city is the antiques capital of Malaysia and most of the shops selling antiques are located along Jalan Hang Jebat-formerly called...

Advantages: Always something to do! Disadvantages: Can get busy at peak times!
...the centre!
HOTELS LA SIESTA, BITACORA, LAS CARDENES & PARK CRITODAL are directly opposite the Park Santiago but they don`t have any English staying there so I don`t know what goes on but they are new looking from the outside.
HOTEL SOL is where we stayed and this fantastic 4 star hotel is to be recommended to all and the price is very reasonable as well with the time of year determining the price. The entertainment is great day and night, the swimming pools (3) are nice including a heated pool for the winter! The rooms are big and the staff friendly. the hotel located in the centre!
There are about 90 hotels/apartments there altogether and if you check the orange map at the bottom of this review it show the location of everything.
BARS
Playa de Las Americas is famous for its bars and in the centre there is a long string of bars which...

Advantages: Weather, location, beauty Disadvantages: No direct flight from UK
...My wife and I have travelled to San Diego three times now. It is truely one of those places on earth that draws you to it like a magnet. Once you have been it will stay with you always.
The climate is perfect, beautiful clear days and endless blue sky without the excessive heat of some destinations.
Each time we have stayed at the Holiday Inn on the Bay. Whilst the hotel isn't the most expensive we have found the location perfect as you are within an easy walk of many shops and restaurants. Imagine sitting outside the hotel deli enjoying a coffee gazing right across the bay on a perfect day. There is also a Marriott hotel on the bay in a good location, I would personally not choose the resort hotels at the opposite side of the bay.
A great family destination San Diego also has a brilliant zoo which can be reached easily by bus or car...

A Beautiful hotel in a perfect location; central and just minutes away from the main sqaure. The hotel overlooks a very pretty canal and we had de-luxe rooms with canal views. Sumptuous rooms, plenty of space and every possible extra. Delicious... more
If you're the same age as me then when someone says the words "De Barge" to you, you can't help but be thrown back to the mid-80s and that awful cheesy pop song "Rhythm Of The Night". Fortunately the De Barge I'm reviewing here is far from cheesy and... more
