Advantages: Good Location, Great Service, Clean, Friendly, Convienant! Disadvantages: Noisy road at night but where in Rome isn't!!!
...I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Rome at the Domus Inn, and am extremely happy. Domus Inn is a great little bed and breakfast in a very good location. It might not be right next to the Colosseum but with an array of buses that stop around the corner taking you to several key locations in the city, its all you need, The service is incredibly friendly and your breakfast is brought to you every morning. On arrival a map was drawn on for us to aid our trip and amazing (affordable) resturaunts recommended. The rooms are comfortable and clean, we had a standard double room with a shower, which was very spacious and the standard of the bathroom was very high. Planning the trip
Our initial plan was to fly from Stavanger to London to take part in a wedding and then use Ryanair to get to Rome and just book a hotel on the web. But after our trip to Japan we checked out Expedia options again. We ended up with a package deal from www.expedia.co.uk. We posted in different forums and also read the Eyewitness guidebook that we bought from www.amazon.co.uk. Many of the hotels that we looked at were located in the Termini area…and the feedback from others was that this area was a bit seedy. But we took a chance anyway and booked a room at Bettoja Hotel Nord Nuova Roma. The Expedia package included the flights from London to Rome (and back of course) and 5 nights at the hotel...

Advantages: Sites, food and culture Disadvantages: Noise, crime and its too busy
...When you go to a Europen capital you expect a certain of history. Paris may have 500 years of it, but Rome has over 2000 years of it making you see why it is called the eternal city.
Depending on how long you intend on going to Rome, you will need to decide beforehand on what sites to see. Firstly there are the ancient sites. These include the Collosium, Forum, Catacombs and Domus Aurea (which may be closed due to structural repairs).
Secondly there are the renaissance sites such as the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and the Vatican.
Thirdly there are a tremedous amount of shops around Rome and a particularly good parade leads directly from the Spanish Steps.
The best way to visit Rome is to pair up different sites. Some may need a day to see e.g. Vatican. But some such as the Spanish Steps should be done in the morning...
