I am of the belief that most people who go on holiday to Majorca, are looking for a cheap/budget summer holiday.
So the cheaper the accomodation the better, the Don Bigote hotel definately falls into the category. The surprising point is that what you get for your money is worth EVERY euro.
The hotel is situated about 100 metres back from one of the main beaches in Palma Nova. It is placed well back from the pubs/clubs so noise levels are not a problem at night-time.
The rooms are very basically laid out but all of them have Air conditioning, a godsend in the heat of summer, we booked a twin room, which comes with 2 beds, cupboard, dresser, bathroom with bath with shower over, bidet, toilet & sink. Each room also has its own balcony, if you're lucky you'll get one overlooking the pool, which gives a bit of a nicer view. The rooms also have a safe, you can hire it out for your stay (I would advise this be used, not because the hotel is untrustworthy, but better safe than sorry).
Staff are very friendly, and always around if you need help, whether it be about your room, or where to get a bus to a certain location. Cleaners are around every day, rooms are cleaned daily.
You have the choice with the hotel to book for Half Board or Bed & Breakfast. We found it easier to go for B&B, as we would always be out in the afternoon and not get back in time for evening meals. The breakfast is the traditional fry up, eggs, sausage, beans, bacon, all on a help yourself basis, giving you the opportunity to go back for more, yummy!!!. When we did have the evening meal, we found them to be ok, though nothing to write home about.
The pool is a decent size for the size of the hotel, with plenty of sun loungers to choose from, no need to worry about getting down quickly in the morning.
All in all we have been to stay at this hotel for the last 3 years, and will definately be going back again. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, whether you're on a budget or not, give it a try.
This hotel does get used frequently by young holiday makers in high season, so dont expect quiet nights then, but sort your dates to the beginning of the season (May) or end of the Season (September) and you'll find it quite reasonable.
The don bigote has a total of 439 rooms over 7 floors and has 2 lifts. Currently room rates are showing as £58 for 2 half board, pretty good price and I'm sure it was a little bit less than that when we stayed, but worth every penny.
