Hotel Drees, Dortmund

Advantages: Cheap, Clean, Nice staff
Disadvantages: Ibis Hotels are a little repetitive and bland..

...An IBIS hotel.. what can I say. Have you stayed in an IBIS before? Then you have stayed in IBIS Dortmund. Where is it? A bit of a trek, but a walkable trek, outside the main part of town. Located on a big but unexciting street. The street has exciting things such as closed shops and a car dealership. Typical back of town street. Its not so far from a train station with an unpronounceable name (info on the website), but this is most definitely not the central train station and was no help to us. To get to the hotel from the Central Train station we walked up through the centre of town, and then out and then out some more and just as I was about to start snapping "You have the directions wrong" there she appeared.. phew. ...*** PLEASE BE AWARE THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SOME INFREQUENT MILD SWEARING *** Hotel Aldeia 3-Star Hotel Ave Dr. Francisco Sa Carneiro, Albufeira 8200-280, Portugal For those of you who know me a little via the site, then you may know I went off to Germany on my holidays … camping !! A far cry from the 4 and 5 star hotels I stay in when on business. Remember the latter … business! When I am paying my own way, it's usually considerably less favourable sleeping establishments involving hard floors, bugs, and occasional rocks! For those of you who don't know me from the site, well, I did set off camping with 7 mates (6 boys and 1 girl) via motorised vehicles, and travelled to a campsite just outside Dortmund in Deutschland for the World Cup. Advantages: Good Beachfront location

...cheaper each than flying from Dortmund. So……..The Hotel The hotel (club) is situated at Side (pronounced See-day) and is an all inclusive only club. It is directly connected to a natural preserved park; 9 km from Side and 7 km from Manavgat, the coach-ride from the airport Dalaman takes approx 1 hour. My first impressions as we walked in to the reception were that it was nowhere near as grand as the club we had stayed in the previous year - however it was OK. I cannot comment on the friendliness of the receptions staff as my German friend dealt with them as they didn't speak much English. I found that strange but as the week unfolded it became clear that having English guests there was quite a novelty - we were the star attraction - in fact one of the waiters told us that in all his years of working at the club...
