Just returned fron Prague and thought this hotel definitely deserved a review!
Me and my boyfriend stayed here for four nights Sunday - Thursday.

Where is it?
The Hotel Duo is not right in the centre of Prague, you do have to do a bit of traveling - but this is pain free and pretty simple.

From the airport we booked a transfer online, this cost us 650Kc. This works out at about £14, this is each way for up to 4 people.
The hotel offers taxi transfers slightly cheaper than this which can be booked on their website before for your arrival, and booked in the hotel for departure.
They also offer a minibus service to the airport for up to 8 people. This cost about £25 which is very reasonable.

Other ways to get to the hotel are to get a bus (119) from the airport to the Dejvicka metro station, which is on the green line, then to get off this one at Muzeum stop and get on a red line to the terminus at ladvi. From Ladvi you can either wait outside for the free shuttle bus that the hotel supplies to this metro station or get on another bus (187, 177 or 145) to the Liberecka bus stop which is situated right opposite the hotel.

This method of getting to the hotel would be a lot cheaper, but remember you have to get on 2 buses and 2 metros with your luggage and it could take longer depending on bus times.

Another way to get to the hotel would just be to get in any taxi from outside the airport, just make sure you get a price from the driver before setting off. Some may be cheaper than the hotel transfers, some may try to rip you off.

From airport - hotel the transfer time is around 30-40 minutes depending on traffic.

To get to the city centre from the hotel the best idea is to get on the free shuttle bus the hotel supplies which comes from the entrance every 15-20 minutes. This then takes you to Ladvi metro station. Here you jump on a metro to your required stop.

The hotels free shuttle bus also picks up from the Ladvi metro station. This service is not the most reliable but a good idea and saves you a little money and effort. It runs from 8.30am to 20.30. If you want to be returning to the hotel later the buses run late, or get a taxi.

How much does it cost?
This obviously depends on when you are going and what kind of room you want and of course who you book it with. I booked mine with findmeaccom.com and it was £184 for two people for 4 nights which I thought was very reasonable.
Executive suites are available if you want a bit more luxury, but at a cost.
The cost includes continental breakfast.

What are the rooms like?

Not only can you have a bedroom but the hotel also has conference rooms and offices that you can rent out.

I thought the bedroom we were in was really nice. It had a double bed, bedside tables, curtains that didn't shut (always a good idea), bedside lamps, a minibar, radio, telephone, TV, kettle, tea + coffee, quite a lot of wardrobe space, a nice clean bathroom with hand and body wash and shampoo provided.
The maid service was daily, they cleaned well but didn't fill up the loo roll when it was getting low and didnt replace the tea and coffee for 2 days but that's just being picky.

The minibar was expensive -
spirits are 150Kc which is about £3.30, wine is the same, for a bottle of the local beer it was 100 which is £2.20.
You didn't really need to use the minibar though.

Bars
There were plenty of places to have a drink in this hotel! Firstly as you walk in there is the lobby bar, here the staff were friendly, they had a small food menu and had comfortable chairs and sofas.
A lot of the general public came in to drink in this lobby bar which we found a little strange.
It was open until 2am and a pint of lager was 47Kc, which works out at just over a pound.
Spirits and bottle of english beer cost more than double this at 100kc a bottle.

The next bar was the beer garden. This was open from 15:00 - 23:00. They started serving food at 17:00. Their menu was more barbecue style grills with chips and salad and each meal was 5 or 6 pound. I would recommend the Pork steak in mushroom sauce. I don't even like pork but it was beautiful. The drinks are the same price as the lobby bar. They also do a mixed grill for two people which we didn't try but got told it was great by other guests. This was the only outside dining area and bar.

The winter garden was like a conservatory style building in between the lobby bar and the beer garden. Prices and opening hours were the same as the beer garden.

A bar was available in the restaurant Formanka. This restaurant was open from 11.00 - 23.00. Serving more posh food at good prices. I had chicken in lemon sauce on a salad which was very nice and my boyfriend had duck in sauce and said his was nice too. It was about £15 for the two meals and two pints of lager which was good for the quality of the food.

The Restaurant Galerie opens from 06:30 - 10.00 for breakfast then 18:00 - 22:30 for evening meals. I didn't eat or drink here so cannot comment but it always looked busy.

What is there to do?

Well I'll start with the casino as this is in the bars category too. This was open 24hrs as was the bar. Bottles of beer only here - no draught. They were priced at 100Kc (£2.20) per bottle.
Really this shouldn't be called a casino. There is a 2 player driving game, 2 pool tables, a few fruit machines, a juke box and a roulette machine.
This was electronic and great fun. You could sit on it all day and night and not even realise. I won 600Kc the first time I went on it which is only £13.48 but I only put £1 in and it kept me entertained for a while!

There is also a swimming pool, there is a charge for this which is a bit annoying as you would think the facilities would come in with the price. It isn't expensive at about £2.20 per hour. The sauna and plunge pool were also in the same area as the pool so you could use these within your hour or go over the corridor and use your time up in the gym. These things are timed by a card you swipe when entering the room and allow 15 minutes in the changing room. There is also a jacuzzi, this is the same price but you cannot combine this with the other things.

There is a 12 lane bowling alley in the same area, this is charged at about £4 per lane per hour and shoe hire is included. This price increases after 3pm.There is another bar here too.

There is also a massage beauty shop and hair salon if you want to be pampered.
There is a junky souvenir shop which sells just and a few toiletries.

There is also an internet cafe which is good. This is open until 11pm. There is a 24hr currency exchange and reception.

The hotel building is split into Tower A and Tower B, The sports facilities are located on the 1st floor in Tower A.

There isn't really much left to say except the hotel was a really nice place to stay, the staff were helpful and there was plenty to do! THe only down sides were if you couldn't get a decent seat in the bar or something it's a bit annoying when it's full of locals, they aren't paying to be there. The only other negative is that you have to pay for the facilities. Even though it isn't much extra I think it would be a good idea to maybe put the cost up a little bit and have all the facilities included.
There may be a little bit of road noise.

I would recommend this to everyone going to Prague.
