I went to Praque twice this year with my boyfriend. We stayed here for 5 nights from 2nd January this year and the hotel was about £225 for the two of us - inc. basic continental breakfast.
We didnt book hotel transfer - wish we had cos the taxi charged us about £20 - for a half hour/ 40mins tranfer - so make sure you book a transfer cos we did get ripped off! I would not recommend getting the metro as there are loads of steps to get to the metro station and some of the escalators are really steep and you feel as though its straight down!! Also, the buses are quite regular but again I would not recommend it - although they are very cheap but you have to buy a ticket and usually you will need change to use the machine and the queues can be quite long for the desk service. While you are in Prague -
i would recommend trying the wee delicatecant in the metro station as they are a real treat while waiting on the metro!
First impressions - large hotel, with swimming pool, gym, bowling alley and nice lounge area/ reception/ bar/souvenir shop.
There is a shuttle bus from the hotel every 20minutes (its about the only thing in the hotel that is free!) that can take you to the metro station and it does picks from the metro station and there are also buses available. I wouldnt chance not paying for a ticket for the bus though as there are always wardens about checking - especially at the bottom of the escalators!!
The rooms were good. We had a separate lounge room and bedroom as well as the bathroom. It was spacious and clean. We also had a tea/coffee maker and a fridge. Sheets and towels and tea etc was changed daily and I think a small tip goes a long way when you want just a little extra attention over your toiletries and tidyness.
We did not order any drinks from the mini bar as it was quite expensive and about the same price for drinks as the local pub in Northern Ireland, however we did eat in the two restaurants in the hotel and we had room service. We felt the price was okay and cost around £25 for two people 2courses each and a dessert - oh and wine - in Galerie restaurant and it serves pasta and pizzas and burgers etc. Evening meals are served from 6 until 10.30. If you stay at this hotel you have to try the crepes with fresh fruit and chocolate sauce - it is the nicest dessert I have ever tasted and i spent the whole time comparing other crepes to this one! Truly unbelievable! Breakfast is served here from 6.30 until 10am.
The other restaurant was posher and cost around £40 for three courses each including wine and drinks and the food was of a high standard - considering I eat in 1-3 restaurants a week!
The lobby bar was nice and served cocktails etc but the drinks were alot more expensive that some of the bars in town - especially when Prague is re-knowned for low cost! It was just over a pound for a pint of beer - local -not easily drunk. It was about £2 for vodka, gin etc! The beer garden was closed at that time of year.
This hotel says its got a casino - yea right - its rubbish - although the bar is open all day 24hours! Although it does have a two pool tables and a few slot machines and a roulette wheel.
The swimming pool is quite good and there is a sauna too - be warned - people seem to use the sauna naked!!!!! Worth a visit!! Although, like most facilites in this hotel, you have to pay a local charge - it was about £2/£2.50 each for use of the pool/sauna/jacuzzi, which isn't too bad. The gym was good - again you have to pay. It had running machine, rowing machines, weights&weights bench, mats, stereo, cycling machine - pretty good gym if you ask me!
The bowling alley was also an extra charge. We didnt use it so i cannot comment how good it was - although it was about £4 each person - more expenses!
To be honest, after our first visit to Prague we liked our hotel, but after having stayed in the centre of town in April, I would suggest staying in town as it was far better not having to get buses, taxis or the metro and this hotel was good but you will save alot of money getting a hotel that doesnt charge for use of the facilites and also food can be purchased very cheap in town. I would suggest to you to think of what you want on holiday - a hotel in town with the vast amount of shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance or a nice, relatively cheap, but quite holday outside the busy centre - its your choice - enjoy!!!

Great review. I actually found the metro to be a fairly useful and easy method of transport whilst we were there. Suppose it depends how far away you are from where you want to be. x
