I have just returned from staying at the hotel El Cid, This is now my 4 fourth visit so i feel i can express a valid review on the hotel. The hotel is at the lower priced hotel holiday stays in SItges, approx £1000 for a fortnight with B&B booked through an agent, you can do this holiday cheaper if you book indepdantly. Over the past 5 years the El Cid has become alot more noiser and the overall decor is tired and in desperate need of updating. The El Cid offers an excellent Pool area with padded sun loungers, it is a right sun trap and a socialable area where 90% of the gay holiday residents mix, This hotel is very popular with gay holiday makers and affection is often openly displayed, it has a nice mix of both male and female residents. The rooms are very basic, the towels are changed daily and the beds made daily, bedding is changed every 4 days, on arrival in your room there will be a couple of bars of soap and a few shower gel sachets together with shower caps so you can freshen up. the rooms now have electronic key tags but the problem is you have to slam the doors so you hear doors banging all night, the sound proofing in the hotel is not effective, that is if there is any, you can hire a key for a safety deposit box that is located in your room for a weekly charge of 18 Euros with a 10 Euro deposit. Breakfast is served buffet style and is basic just sweet breads a small selection of meats, cereals, toast, coffee and fruit juice. There is a drinks dispencer machine that has beer and fizzy drinks this is 1.40 euro a can convient but expensive. The general decor and quality of the hotel is tired and in desperate need of upgrading, the train station is situation approx 5 mins away so excellent location for travelling and transfers, beach is 7 mins walk and nightlife is all around, the beauty of this place is you dont need to get taxis you can walk everywhere, so that save you quite a bit of money. There are lots of cafeteras and resturants close to the El Cid, Staff are friendly and approachable, English is not that good but you will get by.
