Advantages: Beautiful country Disadvantages: Quite expensive and very cold in winter
...are able to speak it. In schools Swiss people also get the chance to learn Spanish, Italian, Latin and Greek – so go mad and test the citizen’s language skills!
Money:
It is quite an expensive country. In my opinion comparable with England. Prices to go shopping are slightly more expensive and if you want to stay in a fancy region, you have to be prepared to pay even more. The prices for Hotels are dear and you will not find as many youth hostels as you would in England. However, the standard is high, so you do not have to be afraid of having coach roaches as your roommates. One Swiss Franc is approximately 2.4 Pounds Sterling.
Things to do and see:
Summer: My tip for the summer is either Tessin, the warmest region or Wallis, which is beautiful for walks and bicycle rides. If you visit Tessin, do not miss the regular Market either in Lucarno...

Advantages: Frequent Flyer Bonus Miles Disadvantages: Changes to the Elite Rules Next Year...
...I started flying with Continental only last year, and on my first trip to the States I met a lady who is now my fiancee, so I have been travelling across the Atlantic quite a bit! I don't know why I joined this scheme, but I am glad I did! I am amazed at how quickly the miles build up thanks to their very generous Elite scheme - after just 5 Transatlantic flights (that is flights, not round trips!) you will reach Silver Elite status, giving a 50% milage bonus, so a typical round trip to New York earns 10,000 miles (or 11,000 if you book online). Another 5 Transatlantic legs sees Gold Elite status and 100% bonus miles, then Platinim Elite and 125% bonus... Also with Elite status comes the end of queues at airports - check in at the first class desk and go straight onto the aircraft when they open first class. The Elite...

Advantages: Spacious, comfortable rooms and good location with easy access to shops and restaurants Disadvantages: Expensive unless you negotiate a discount; and the lighting in the rooms is appalling.
...We had actually booked to stay one week at the Elit Palas's sister hotel, the Elit in Olgunler Sok, but on arrival were told they were full and we were being upgraded to the Elit Palas. Having ascertained that there would be no surcharge on top of the price previously negotiated, we settled into our "room", which was in fact a mini-suite comprising double bedroom, bathroom (with both bath and shower) and sitting room - all very comfortable and well appointed. Facilities included high-speed wi-fi internet connection, fridge, mini-bar, hairdrier and two televisions. The only drawback was the lighting - in both the sitting room and bedroom it was appallingly dim (the brightest light was the one inside the fridge!) and the bizarre system of wiring meant that the bedside lights could only be turned on if the main switch in the sitting room...

Yet another house move meant that I needed some careful rewarding, the choice of my reward was a toss up between the PS3 or the Xbox 360 Elite. After a bit of careful deliberation and a look at the range of games available the Xbox 360 won the day. I... more
Keyboards always tend to die very rapidly in my household thanks to the combination of 4 kids slamming away on them and a very heavy-handed and accident-prone hubby, so when our last one went off to silicon heaven (nothing to do with Pamela Anderson I... more
