The Euro is one of two major soccer competitions, the other being the fifa World Cup. Euro2000 was co-hosted by Belgium and Holland and this was the first time that UEFA granted co-hosting for the event. The tournament started on the 10 of June 2000 and ended on July 2 2000.
The Group stages
There were a total of 16 teams divided into four groups of four teams.
Group A consisted of Germany, Romania, Portugal and England. There were a couple of exciting encounters in the group, England/Portugal for one. England opened the scoring six minutes in the encounter and added a second goal 12 minutes later. Portugal came roaring back though, first midfielder Luis Figo opened the scoring for Portugal with a hammering shot in the 22 minute of play. The Portuguese squared the match up before half-time and got the winner through forward Nuno ...
Advantages: Great for travelling, friendly, easy to get around, clean Disadvantages: Swiss German is impossible to understand unless you grew up with it!
bridge' to Clarastrasse in Kleinbasel, heading towards the new exhibition square of Messeplatz. Although at first Basel may seem a small city (only the third largest in Switzerland) there are layers and layers of hidden depths that I was still discovering after a year.
Getting around is a breeze with an extensively interlinked tram and bus system. Many hotels will provide you with travel passes for your stay giving you free use of these, and the regularity of the transport is astounding. If you've landed at the nearby EuroAirport you can catch the number 50 bus straight to the train station, and get a tram to pretty much anywhere from there. Just be aware that you have to buy your tickets before you get on any transport, and the fines are hefty if you don't have a ticket - although playing the stupid Englishman often works well ...

Advantages: it's EA Disadvantages: limited to euro
The official tournament, the official game.
With every new international sports event comes the invevitable official computer game.
Good graphics and sound, some good gameplay make this a title worth having (would`nt expect anything less from ea).
To get to the finals you need to play eight teams. Roll up Roll up and tone your skills in our nice training centre yes thats free.
There is also in my opinion a good learning curve with this game.
Although it can't quite compete with the like of Fifa 2000, it's another great game from EA sports and I wouldn't expect anything else than for this game to be a truly great hit ...
