Advantages: An exciting city Disadvantages: can get hot in the summer
...Madrid is a great place for couples or friends on a short city break.
If you are looking at staying in Madrid you could do a lot worse than take a look at the Hotel Regina. The hotel is a 3 star establishment on Calle Alcala, which runs directly into the centre of the city at Puerto del Sol. In fact this hotel is little more than 300 yards from the centre of Madrid.
I stayed in a single room (though it had two single beds!) for around £40 per night in March 2001. For that I got the room, ensuite bath with over the bath shower, toilet and sink, cable tv including pay per view movies, cnn, eurosport and sky news, a radio, and an alarm clock.

Advantages: Many things to see, Great underground subway, Nightlife Disadvantages: Many "risky" places,
...Madrid... I have lived in Madrid for 17 years almost and I never regret having done so.
Madrid is an excellent city that offers a variety of tourism for any culture. It has a great selection of good restaurants and bars that come from national selections to international/oriental gourmet but its all superb. The nightlife in Madrid is wonderful, having loads of bars and discotheques (many of them are huge).

Madrid is a city with many things to see and do and it offers a diverse range of activities and attractions, from museums to amusement parks.
If you were to visit MadridI would recommend 5 things "must see".
-Plaza Mayor (many small typical spanish restaurants + shopping)
-Santiago Bernabeu (football...

Advantages: Fantastic spec, high class hotel with excellent service Disadvantages: Ever so slightly out of the way
...The Hotel Nikko was one of the best I have visited in the US.
We relocated to the Nikko, because our original hotel was right next to a tramline on a busy street and they were very unhelpful when we asked to move room.
The contrast when we moved to the Nikko couldn't have been greater. It was like an oasis of calm in the middle of frenetic San Francisco.
The staff were friendly and courteous and we spent a few very enjoyable days in and around San Francisco in the knowledge that we were coming back to a sanctuary every evening.
Our room was excellent. It was beautifully decorated with an oriental touch. I think the hotel is Japanese owned, which would explain the decor. In addition, our room had great views over the city, even though the location is quite low down on the skyline.
The only tiny drawback was that the location...
