Big on service, this hotel is worth a visit

The room I stayed in was certainly spacious and that was only a standard room. The view we had over part of the city wasn't particularly spectacular but I am afraid the setting of Gothenburg is never going to set the heart racing. The hotel is lovely, the city average.
I didn't have any children with me when I was there so I wasn't looking for child-specific facilities, however, I think they may have been in short supply. Perhaps the nearby theme park is seen as a suitable sweetener for people visiting with children on tow.
The food in the hotel was absolutely sumptuous. Try the prawns for a starter in the Sky Restaurant. The portion would serve you for a full week never mind a starter! The food is generally very good. Watch out for the prices though. Food and drink is a little more expensive in Sweden anyway and the fact this is seen as an exclusive hotel does not help make it any less expensive!
Still, overall, this is a very nice hotel and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Gothenburg.
Advantages: DECENT LOCATION WITHIN THE CITY Disadvantages: THERE ARE CHEAPER ALTERNATIVES
I visited this hotel when i visited Gothenburg recently. As you walk in to the massive lounge you are greeting by wonderful decor and staff that are immacuatley turned out. I made the mistake of not booking in advance and despite there being a boat convention on in the hotel (which was attracting people from around the world) and it being 9pm in the evening the lady at reception went out of her way to find me a room after it was initially found to ... ...I would recommend this hotel as a great venue for a romantic weekend away, this decor, service and overall class of the hotel far outstrips the money you will pay to stay here.
One word of advice; book in advance because you can find some good deals for this hotel on the internet. ...

**Where to stay**
There is plenty of choice when it comes to deciding where to stay in Gothenburg. You can choose between the 5 star futuristic, mirrored sky-scraper of GothiaTowers, to the traditional splendour of Eggers Hotel, which was once the meeting place for secret discussions between British and Nazi negotiators during World War 2. You could also choose to sleep aboard a ship; Barken Viking is a Danish built trading ship from 1906, which is now moored permanently and operates as a hotel.
There are also many smaller family run hotels and B&B's, plus youth hostels and a large campsite just outside the town. Many hotels offer summer reductions and nearly all of them include a huge lavish Scandinavian breakfast in the price ...
