This is the largest hotel in the city of Gothenburg. Don't expect a hotel the size of the Waldorf Astoria in New York or the Bellagio in Las Vegas. It's a little more compact than that, however, it is a wonderful hotel that I would recommend to anyone visiting Gothenburg.
The hotel is in a nice area of the city and there is a theme park practically on your doorstep. The hotel is easily identifiable from most parts of the city with its two towers. As you enter the hotel it is clear that you have paid for a little bit of class. The lobby is huge and the greeting you receive from your hosts will leave a very good impression. The people at Gothia Towers are well trained to be very helpful and they execute the hotel ethos with aplomb. And I am not just referring to the reception staff. The bar staff, waiters, waitresses, room attendants..... They are all very committed to providing a good service and they all succeed.
The room I stayed in was certainly spacious and that was only a standard room. The view we had over part of the city wasn't particularly spectacular but I am afraid the setting of Gothenburg is never going to set the heart racing. The hotel is lovely, the city average.I didn't have any children with me when I was there so I wasn't looking for child-specific facilities, however, I think they may have been in short supply. Perhaps the nearby theme park is seen as a suitable sweetener for people visiting with children on tow.
The food in the hotel was absolutely sumptuous. Try the prawns for a starter in the Sky Restaurant. The portion would serve you for a full week never mind a starter! The food is generally very good. Watch out for the prices though. Food and drink is a little more expensive in Sweden anyway and the fact this is seen as an exclusive hotel does not help make it any less expensive!Still, overall, this is a very nice hotel and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Gothenburg.
