Hotel Monte Verde

Advantages: Very Clean
Disadvantages: Awful Food, Noisy, Far way from Palma Airport

In October 2006 I went on an all-inclusive holiday for one week to Porto Cristo on the east coast of Majorca (Mallorca). I stayed in a hotel called the Monte Verde. It cost me £169 and I will now share my experiences of this hotel with you. The Monte Verde Hotel was built in 1969 and was fully refurbished during the winter of 2000. The Monte Verde has a total of 140 rooms that are built over 7 floors. When I pulled up to The Monte Verde I was not very impressed with the look of the hotel, it looked like a block of flats and was similar to some of the housing around Porto Cristo, which looked a bit basic and old fashioned. However The Monte Verde is only a 2 star hotel so I was not expecting too much. Upon arriving inside at around midnight Majorcan time (+1 hour GMT), I was surprised to find nobody at the 24-hour front desk. I ...

Donta go a pasta Verde's !!

Advantages: Fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff
Disadvantages: You want to go back - again and again and again......

Verdes Ristorante and Pizzeria LANCASTER Writing a restaurant review is very difficult. Different people look for different things in a restaurant. As far as I am concerned what I look for is a good atmosphere, a good menu selection, good value for money, friendly and helpful staff, but mainly it needs to be a restaurant that I want to visit again, and again. This is certainly the case with Verdes Ristorante and Pizzeria which has been a popular family run restaurant in Lancaster for many years. The restaurant is situated in the centre of town in Church Street, it's open seven days a week from 11.30am to 10.30pm for meals or just a tea or coffee. Verdi's is a traditional Italian eatery that uses fresh quality ingredients and uses only De Ceccio pasta. De Ceccio is one of the best pastas ...

Cape Verde (windy) experience

Advantages: Sun, short flight, no jet lag, unspoilt for the best part.
Disadvantages: Windy, heavy seas, little culture.

We wanted something unspoilt with plenty of sun and Cape Verde was a destination suggested to us by a friend. With one eleven year old child there also had to be something to do and we thought that the promise of watersports would fit the bill. Well the first thing that struck us on the inward flight was that the island of Sal is a barren wilderness. Still we pretty much new this before we booked but it still came us a bit of a shock. The next thing to grab our attention was the strength of the wind - pretty well relenless for the duration of our 2 weeks stint. We stayed at one of the RIU group hotels (Garopa) and cannot speak highly enough of the cleanliness and overall standard of accomodation which was all inclusive and to be honest you would want it to be, there isn't a lot of choice outside of the the resort. Next, the beach ...
