When planning a holiday, accommodation is obviously a major part of the decision. Everyone has different objectives in their selection. For our holiday to Vienna, my husband and I set out wants and needs before scouring around for suitable venues.
We decided on Hotel accommodation. Although holidaying in major city, we wanted a quiet place to stay but yet close enough to local amenities to enable easy access. We wanted good quality service with double bed and bath. These were our agreed prior requirements.
Obviously travel brochures and Internet sites only provide a limited description and a basic picture, so you take a risk. I have been on two different Christmas Shopping bus trips and both times have stayed at the Ghent Holiday Inn. The price of each trip was £99 inclusive of bus travel, ferry crossing and two nights accomodation at the Holiday Inn.

The Holiday Inn Ghent is around 60km from Brussels and is situated in central Belgium which makes it ideal to explore the country. It is near the intersection of the E17 and E40 motorways.
It is 65km from Ostend airport in Holland and 62km from Antwerp airport .
On the first trip that I went on we visited Valkenburg and Ostend in Holland, and Aachen in Germany and each day we made good time and were not rushed at all.
The nearest town is Gent which is around 3km away. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and bars in Gent.

Advantages: Great Location, Breakfast & Friendly Staff Disadvantages: Itchy Blankets and Thin Walls - Nothing That Bad!
carpet, was a good size compared to some hotels and the breakfast compared even more favourably. There was a range of cooked meats for The Boyfriend, warm crusty rolls, cheese, hard boiled eggs, honey, butter cake, yoghurts, cereal and bananas. I also ate my first authentically Belgian Bun, dribbled with icing. (I've seen a few complaints on Trip Advisor about the lack of fruit at breakfast in the Eden and there wasn't much selection, but the bananas were fine by me.) The tea, coffee and orange juice were excellent.
LOCATION:
After breakfast, we headed out to see what there was to see. The Eden is a stones throw from the historical cobbled centre of Ghent and it was no problem popping back to the hotel for coats and then for dry clothes after we took a 40 minute ride on an open boat in a rainstorm.
