Advantages: Design hotel, good breakfast, nice area Disadvantages: Not in the very center of the city
I have been in the "Rex Hotel" for a long weekend in April 2008.
The area
The hotel is situated in a quiet street 10-15 minutes walking from the center. In this area there are a lot of supermarkets (including one Lidl), restaurants (Italians, Chineses) and a lot of take aways. There is also a 7eleven that closes around 11.00 pm.
The hotel
When you enter at the hotel you can see the reception, a sofa and a internet desk (free to use). Our room was in the first floor and it was nice. Not huge but with space enough to have a table, a chest of drawers and a sofa.
The bathroom is quite impressive with black stone in a very design style.
In the room there are available two bottles of sparkling water and a detailed dossier of the attractions of the area with a lot of useful information. You can access free of charge to ...
Advantages: Excellent location, good facilities, nice bar Disadvantages: Could get a windowless room
INTRODUCTION
Having lived there for a few years, Stockholm is always a favourite destination of mine and it still feels like a second home. Strange then, that up until this point I haven?t covered anything from there in my reviews. Here is where I put that shameful record straight. Almost every year I manage to go there for a course of some kind, and last year was no exception. In the middle of winter, I found myself back in the city that holds many memories for me, for the first time in this hotel in an area quite familiar to me as you shall see.
As for the title? Well you'll have to read on won't you!
KUNGSHOLMEN ISLAND
The Amarantan hotel is situated on the island of Kungsholmen. Now what does Stockholm have in common with Venice? Well, they?re both cities built on islands, and ? The Kings Island? just across ...
I stayed here in September for 3 nights and this is my opinions of this hostel.
Location
We arrived into Stockholm at around 2pm from a train from Oslo. The hostel is within easy walking distance of the main train station. Although it is only a five or tem minute walk from the train station the directions we recieved from hostelworld were not the most clear and we ended up going the long way round to get to the hostel.
The hostel is located just off a busy shopping street and from the train station you need to go down a couple of levels of roads to get to the main street.
However things are a bit more complex if arriving by ferry or air and it is avisable to simply get a taxi from either to the main train station or the hostel itself.
Our welcome
We arrived at the hostel and our welcome was one of the most pleasant ...

Manufacturer's product description
Hotel Hellsten is located in a building dating from 1898. The hotel designer and founder, has kept the old style of typical bourgeois family flats, with some rooms having kakelugnar, a Swedish style of tile or porcelain chimneys, and stuccatio and wooden panels. The rooms are all individually designed to reflect their natural advantages, which means a stay at the Hellsten is both a pleasure and an aesthetic experience. \\\The founder\\\'s Great Great Grandfather, Carl Fredrik Hellsten had, in addition to his job as a mining expert, an inn in Ljusnarsberg in the Swedish county of Bergslagen. He had inherited this inn from his father. In 1871, some time after the great famine in Sweden, he decided to get rid of this enterprise. He wanted to move to Stockholm for a safer existence and so that his sons could get an education. His first thought was to start a small hotel business but reality did not want this. Instead he found himself working hard as a clerk to feed his family. They lived in the parish of Adolf Fredrik in Stockholm. They had their residence at Kammakargatan, two blocks away from the hotel. Carl Fredrik\\\'s son Johan, who became a publisher of architectural books, had his shop at Drottninggatan and his home at Luntmakargatan, the street where the Hotel Hellsten is today located. In 2004, 130 years later, Hotel Hellsten opens its doors to continue a family tradition."
