In November 2005 my fiancé took me to Bruges for a romantic weekend. Little did i kniw this would turn out to be the happiest weekend of my life- as he proposed whilst we were there!
On arriving at the hotel, my breath was taken away by the sheer beauty of the reception and staircase area. Beautiful chandeliers suspended fromt he cieling and tasteful antique look furniture all very stylishly coordinanted in shades of gold. The hotel staff were in the process of decorating the hotel for Christmas making it even more magical.
The lady on reception could not have been more helpful, explaining about the room and also about the local area, giving us a map and telling us about the walking tours around Bruges organised by the hotel.
When we opened the door to our room it actually brough tears to my eyes. The decor was just so opulent and every detail thought of- basket of fruit and bottles of wine ont he table, luxury toiletries in the bathroom.
The room wasn't massive but plenty big enough for both of us and the bed was a very good size, I'd say queen or King. There was plenty of storage space to hang clothes and tv and dvd player are provided. our room was at the back of the hotel so there wasnt much of a view but this didnt impact on our stay at all.
the staff were so attentive during our stay- I later found out they had the booked the restaurant where my fiance proposed for him- and organised for a bottle of champagne to be in our room when we got back thatnight. also every morning they slipped a card under our door showing what the weather forecast was for the day!
The location of the hotel cannot be beaten- in the centre of Bruges but not right in the market square where its busy, but only 2-5 minutes walk away.
Breakfast in the hotel was delicious with so much choice- cooked breakfast, hams, cheeses, fruit, cereals breads and juices and im sure there was more!
In short, we are already planning our trip back to the hotel heritage in Bruges for our 1st wedding anniversary.
