I'm a keen musician, playing cello, drums, guitar and a bit of piano (+ listening to whatever comes my way). I also enjoy writing, and watching TV.

This hotel greatly enhanced the enjoyment of my stay in Brussels over Easter weekend in Brussels. The first thing that hit me when I entered the room, was that there were not three single beds for me and my two brothers, but one single and two doubles. I had encountered the same problem whilst staying in a hotel Ibisin Paris a few weeks ago. After a little discussion with management, it emerged that Ibis does not do more than one single bed in each room. Reluctantly, we agreed to stay, and when we say what television channels they had, our minds were made up. They somehow had BBC 1 and 2, and they also had quite a few good American channels. Amusingly, they also had a few adult channels pay per view or course, and they gave assurance on their guide that no reference would be made for the choice of film (this was topic of a good laugh between myself and my siblings ... only in Belgium would one enjoy such a chance to act offended, and only in Belgium, would one not be allowed to boyishly complain). There were however also some proper pay per view films such as X- Men and Shaft. Breakfast was a wonderful experience, each one of the three mornings that I was there. I enjoyed baguette, pain au chocolat (for those of you who don't know that is a chocolate croissant), brioche, fresh croissant, cheese and a cool glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Breakfast was included in the bill, and once you are there, you can eat pretty much to your heart's content. I believe that a less exotic holiday breakfast was available as well or instead of this, ie. Eggs, bakes beans toast etc. On top of everything else, the hotel was right in the middle of all that happens in Brussels (plenty more than is commonly advertised). It is less than five minutes away from some amazing restaurants, there are some nightclubs, and a little further away there are some jazz clubs. There is always a queue of taxis around just across the square, who for quite a cheap rate will take you where you please much more in the style of New York cabs to London black cabs. This was a very pleasant stay, and you might like to note that there is no restaurant in the hotel, but frankly I had some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in some of the big restaurants nearby, and it well worth forking out on the good food.
